Bantams boast
modest streak

The Goderich Lakeport
Steel Bantams are im-
proving with every game-.
The Bantams improved
on their modest win
streak this week dumping
Walkerton 4-2 in Goderich
Saturday and then adding
to their win list with a 3-0
victory over Kincardine,
Sunday.
Goderich scored three
times in the first period
Saturday and added an
insurance .goal in the
second period to defeat
Walkerton 4-2.
Colin Alexander opened
the scoring in the first
period but the Goderich
lead was short lived as
Walkerton responded
with two straight goals
within a minute to take
the lead 2-1.
Paul Day and Rick •
Stohl each scored a goal
for Goderich in the last
five minutes of the
opening period to turn the
lead back to the bantams
at 3-2,
Brad Armstrong scored
the only goal of the
second period to boost
Goderich into a• two -goal
lead, which stood as the
final score.
Walkerton enjoyed
three power play op-
portunities in the final
period but were unable to
capitalize.
'The Steelers ,increased
their win streak Sunday
as they piled up a 3-0 lead
in the first half of the
game and coasted to the
shutout over Kincardine.
Brad Armstrong
clinched the win for
Goderich scoring two
quick goals in the first
period. David Gallow
scored the third Goderich
goal midway through the
second period.
The Bantams will
return to action this
Saturday' against
Listowel in the Goderich
and District Community
Centre. Game,time is 6:30
p.m. On Sunday
December 3 they will
play in Walkerton and
then on •Wednesday
December 6 they will be
in Durham.

The Goderich Midget
Bs came up with one of
their finest offensive
performances of the
season as they drilled
Wingham 7-0 in WOAA
league play in Goderich
last Thursday.
The Midgets scored two
goals in both the first and
second period to pile up a
4-0 lead after two periods
of play and then scored
three times in the final
period.
Kent Tigert and Jim
Fritzley paced the
midgets scoring two toals
Bridge
scores
Louise • Hetherington
and Pat Stringer topped
the North-South section of
play at the November 28
meeting of the Goderich
Bridge club with .851/z
points. There were eight
tables in play.
Auleen Curry and Jean
Papernick were second
with 80 points and Frank
and Jim Donnelly, were
third with 78 points.
Bill Bradley. and A.
Weerasooriya were first
in the East-West division
with 87 points. The teams
of Nuala Conlon and Kay
Duncan and John Donatis
and John Wood tied for
second with 791/4 points.

Power play leads Mustangs to win

Last Friday night in
Goderich, the second
place Port . Elgin Bears
visited the Clinton
Mustangs, and a strong
third period by the Stangs
enabled them to skate off
with a convincing 8-6
victory.
The Mustangs
currently hold down third
place in Central OHA
Junior C action, behind
Kincardine Kinucks and
Port Elgin, but the Stangs
have a few games in
hand.
In last. Friday night's
game, power play goals
seemed to be the answer
as ten of the goals scored
were on power plays
while Port Elgin's first
goal was scored on a
penalty shot.
The Robertson Rams cleaned up at a volleyball
tournament held on Saturday. Both the senior boys'
and senior girls' teams won four games straight
against Colborne Central to capture the cham-
pionshipe., Senior boys' captain, Andrew Telford
and senior girls' captain, Jane Ferguson display
the winning pennants. Members of the boys' team
were Paul Day, Mike Evans, Darryl Madge, Ed
Craig, Jim Keller, Dwaine Cook, Paul McCartney,
David Day,'Ray Vanstone, Brian Mitchell-, Jamie
Reynolds, Tim Goddard,Darrin Moore and David
More. Members of the girls' team were Natalie
Sully, Kim Schutz, Sue Muffin, Vickie Munroe,
S.H.H.L.

Lewis and Paul Helesicl
were the Clinton
marksmen.
During the second
period, Port Elgin out-
scored the locals three
goals to two. Bill Lewis
scored his second of the
night and Mustang
scoring leader Tim
McLean notched the
other marker.
Port Elgin went ahead
garly in the t12,1rd period 6-
9 before•;••the Stangs
roared back with four
straight goals to finish off
the Bears. Third period
goals for the Stangs were,
scored by Bill Lewis, with,
his third, Paul Helesic
with his second, and Phil
• Arthur and Neil
Colquhoun with singles. I
The Mustangs will be in
action again this weekend
with two home games,
that will be played in
Blyth. On Friday night,
starting at 9 p.m. the
Walkerton Black Hawks
will piake their first
appearance of the season
and on Sunday at Blyth
„again, the Port Elgin
Bears will make their
second appearance: This
game will start at 4:30
p.m. instead of an
evening appearance.
The Mustangs • are
currently 6-1-2 in the
league and a pair of
weekend victories would
enable them to take over
second place and
challenge the Kinucks for
the lead. •
Fan support is the best
incentive,for ,,a winning.

The high single and
triple for, the evening,
rolled by Tom Willis 373
and 764, helped first place
Hopeless with 28 points
shutout J.J.'s, now tied
for fourth with 20 points,
despite Jon Ginn's 231
and 541 triple.
The ladies were
r€sponsible for the 'two
points gained by The
Unlucky Six, tied for
second with 27. Betty
Miller had high single
with 273 and Mary Bisset
tolled a 643 triple. Third
place Try Hards with 21
points, ' grabbed five
points with the help of
George Swan's 295 and
738 triple.
Glen Webster hit a 229
and 600 triple for
Hopefulls, to take, five
points and tie them for
second with27. Blowouts,
tied for fifth, with 18
points, had Kevin Rumig
hitting a 244 and 616
triple.
Jack's Jokers, tied for
fourth with 20 points, took
three with Shirley Lamb
rolling a 209 and 587
triple. Bloopers, also tied
for fourth, took four
points with the help of
Bob Rising's 279 and 705
triple.
Doug Fuller rolled a 280
and 670 triple for fifth
place Sunday Headpins
helping them take two
points for a total of 16.
Last place Merry
Strikers broke their two-
week shutout streak by
gaining five points for a
total of 15 with the help of
one of their spares, Les
Pitblado, who rolled a 271
and 662 triple.
