proposed hall.
"They don't have a
large hall in Goderich or
Clinton," Reeve .Ginn
stated," the closest ones
are at Blyth and Hensall.
I think that large halls
are thriving, but if you're
talking about arenas or

would only have to be
removed when the per-
manent equipment was
put in. He added that Bert
Alexander, owner of
Suncoast, was selling lots
on the south side of
Suncoast Drive as fully
serviced lots and there
was "no blinking way
they're fully serviced".
The manager said he
had agreed to a tem-
porary service for one Tot
to permit the con-
struction of a house but
felt that with three lots
now sold the developer
should have to pay his
share of the servicing. He
said the PUC has a $300 a
lot impost for hydro to
swimming pools, they're
not thriving."
He went on "We have a
fine facility here in
Holmesville ' (the White
Carnation) but I hope
that a large hall won't
interfere with them."
One resident
suggested, "I'd like to see
cover the cost of ser-
vicing by the PUC and
Suncoast had better be
prepared to pay for all 20
lots in the area if it
wanted to sell any.
He said that Suncoast
would have to wait in line
for the PUC to do the
work. He said utility
employees were busy
with work on the Bayfield
Road widening and on the
lights for The Square
beautification project. He
-estimated - about three -
weeks work installing
services for the sub-
division adding that if the
PUC had to dig a trench
in frost conditions the job
would cost extra and the
developer would have to
pay more.

Another agreed, "This
gymnasium is a very
poor effort. It was
probably built when
modern schools were
being pioneered."
Reeve Ginn replied,
"I'd only be too happy to
let the kids use the
facilities, but if it were
adjacent to the school,
well, I hate to say it but
the refreshment zone at
dances makes the money
and I don't think the
school board would go for
that."
Former board trustee
Bob Elliott confirmed
Reeve Ginn's suspicions.
However, he pointed out
that if the facility were
built on school grounds,
then the—board—would
maintain it.
"To me that sounds
better and more
economical than the
township trying to
"maintain a $375,000
facility," he strongly
voiced.

Grade 7 and 8 students
at St. Joseph's School in
Kingsbridge have been
working on entries for the
Legion poem and essay
contest for Remem-
brance Day.
The Remembrance
Day • program at St.
Joseph's was Friday at 2
p.m. Everyone par-
ticipated with songs and
readings. The Knights of
Columbus presented each
student with a pin, "One
Canada" with a picture of
the Canadian flag on it.
JVIrs. Melba Park sup-
plied in the Grade 3 and 4
room at St. Joseph's on
Thursday afternoon while
Mrs. Nancy Park was at
a music meeting.
Grade 5 and 6 hosted
the First Friday Mass for
November. They sang,
"We'll Know we are
Christians by Our Love."
On November 22 the
health nurse will be
visiting the primary
grades at St Joseph's to
speak on nutrition.
Also on Friday,
November 10 Constable
Bill Wilson of the O.P.P.
was at the school. He
presented a program on
safety to the primary
grades and on shoplifting
to the intermediate and
senior grades. He also
answered questions.

Mr. Zyluk, principal, is

Elliott, a friend of the late •
Mr. Woon.
He continued, "Are we

only drive so far and I
don't think that this,place
will be so exceptional that
we'll get everyone here.

reading and finally
passed, amending by-law
no. 8, 1978, to change the
volunteer labor is needed.
If Goderich Township
wants something, they'll
have to work for it."
"If we're going to
accept this money we
have to put up a decent
facility in honor of this
couple. You can interpret
the request any way you
like, we could build a 20 x
20 foot room but that
wouldn't do justice to the
lady and her husband,"
he added.
"They loved , dancing
and I guess they'd want a
dance hall," one resident
who also knew the couple
recalled.
Still, no decision has
been made on the future,
of the athletic field and
the additional land or the
proposed building. A
feasibility study must be
conducted -to discover the
need for the facility
before Wintario grants
can be given.
Reeve -Elect Grant
Stirling and Reeve Ginn
agree that it is doUbtful
whether township
residents will get a vote
on the question.
"I wouldn't have a
plebiscite," explained
Reeve Ginn who will be
giving up his position as
township council head in
two weeks, "You've
elected people to make
your decisions for you."
