In your opinion, how can the Goderich reeve and deputy -reeve use their voting power (4 votes) effectively for the benefit of Goderich ratepayers? The reeve and deputy: reeve of Goderich have one vote each at the municipal council table, but, under the municipal act, because of population' and assessment, each have two votes at Huron County Council. The --'reeve- and -deputy=reeve-••: -° should use these votes to get maximum value from the county for the towns requisition. 2. Are there benefits for the reeve and deputy - reeve to sit on local municipal council as well as county council, or should county representatives be separate from town council and serve on county council alone? There are very definite benefits which would by lost to the town if the reeve and deputy -reeve served on county council only. As the towns representative at the county level they have the background and the feeling or direction of the town council, from which they can make their input and vote accordingly at the county level. Con- versely they can convey the thinking of the county council back to the town council be serving on both. 3. Is the reeve second only to the mayor at the municipal council table and the deputy -reeve third in line? If so, should the mayor, reeve and deputy -reeve work as a team to provide direction and incentives for the council? In an urban municipality the mayor is the head of council, while in a . rural municipality where there is no, mayor, the reeve i°s the head of council. At the municipal level the mayor, the reeve, and the deputy - reeve each have one vote, as do all members of council. In the absence of the mayor, under the municipal act, it does not convey the power or authority of the mayor to the reeve or deputy reeve. Rather, council may convey the chair or conduct of a meeting to any other council member. On the social level ' (conveying greetings from the town, etc.) the reeve or deputy - reeve may be requested to represent the mayor. The full council should work as a team. 4. Is Goderlch nearing the time when it should sever ties with Huron County and become a separate municipality - similar to Stratford and Perth County? I feel it would be a mistake to even think about severing our ties with HUron County. I know that at a first glance it would seem that Goderich's $369,691 requisition from the county is taxation without value. But let's look at I, our relationship a little closer.
