Listowel came on strong causing the Vikings to lose their concentration_ Their offence fell apart and their usually successful press did not work. Viking coach Donna Doidge labelled the fourth quarter as a very depressing quarter for us - The loss dropped the Vikings to second place, ,.with a record of eight wins and one loss. Listowel remains the only undefeated team in the league, and now boasts a L i N th 16 points led Listowel of- fensively and controlled the boards at both ends of the court_ Lucie Turcotte had 12 points for the Vikings. Karen Melady and Heidi Elliott had four points each for the losers_ T,�e Vikings played their final league game Tuesday in Clinton and are involved in a sudden - death semi-final playoff here today (Thursday)_ The Vikings played a three -game exhibition tour in Toronto last weekend_ Friday night they defeated McDonald Secondary School, 40`20_ Saturday they split a pair of games, beating Malvern Collegiate 49-9 and losing -to the number one ranked Toronto senior girls' team, Overlea Collegiate, 40-30_ Lucie Turcotte and Audrey Vandenheuvel were the Vikings' top scorers in this game with_ eigbtpoints each: The Goderleh �nh*g Club honored several saBors at its annual banquet last Saturday- The award winners included Dave Parsons, Dinghy award; Doug Bundy, commodore, captured the Reeves ,M cup; Lynn Meyers, keel boat award; ark Taylor, top junior sailor and Anita Shrler was the most improved junior sailor. (photo by Dave Sykes) Suns extend record Over the weekend the ""Suns" extended their record to three wins and one loss by beating Walkerton 6-2 on Saturday and losing 5-3 to Hanover on Sunday_ In Saturday's game the Suns controlled the play throughout the game. Unlucky Six lead Forester bowling The Unlucky Six, in first place with 16 points,. with thanks to Debbie Johnston's 278 and -John Bissett's 611, shutout Bloopers, in second place with 14 points, with Rolf Wirtzfeld rolling a 258 and 578 triple, Hopeless, with 12, tied for third place with Hopeful's, took seven points from them due to Tom Willis' 260 and 711 triple. Hopeful's high games were rolled by Glen Webster with a 214 single and 594 triple_ Leone jhom's 285 and 670 triple won four points totalling 11 for fourth place J. Merry Strikers, in fifth place with 10 points, grabbed five points with Lyall Mabon's 198 and Karin Mabon's 574 triple, while Jack's Jokers took two points tying them for seventh place with eight points. Jack Gilbert rolled high for his team, 225 and 597 triple. KevinRumig's 260 and 665 triple gained five points for seventh place Blowouts from last place Sunday Headpins. Their high games were- rolled by Doug Fuller, a 263 single and 641 triple_ even for Telford scored on a pass from Todd Gilchrist_ The second period went scoreless but early in the third some strong forechecking paid off and Scott Garrow got a quick break_ Walkerton came back to score and .put. pressure on the Suns but again they let Scott Garrow slip by and score on a breakaway_ David Jewell put the game on ice when he found the open net in the last minute of play, and then, after Walkerton had retslaeed then -==game Davey alertly picked up the puck in the Walkerton Zone and beat the goalie cleanly with a high shot_ Sunday's game with Hanover started much lite the Saturday game had ended In the first minute of play Davey Jewell netted two quick goals, the first from behindthe net and the• second on a hard shot from near the blueline that beat the Hanover goalie cleanly_ Curt McPherson added to the Goderich lead on a very fine passing play from Kevin Talbot and Steve Schutz and Goderich closed the period in front 3-0_ From that point on the boys from Hanover took 'e of L "Goals-' by -Shawn Lowinow, Lowinow, Mark Steinoff and Jeff Alexander. evened the score as The Suns had some very skaky moments in the second period. Hanover carried their momentum into the third period and Robbie Lippert scored twice to decide the game. The Suns play in Listowel on Saturday and are at home to Durham on Sunday at five o'clock. Goderich skater wins Debbie Horton, 12 - year -old daughter of Mr_ and Mrs_ Everett Horton of Goderich brought home a bronze medal v from the Stoney Creek - 'Hamilton Figure Skating Competition held in Stoney Creek on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 3,4 and 5. Debbie placed fourth in her flight in her Free Style event, then moved into third place after completing figures_ She is the pupil of Mr. Rick Pettit, professional coach with the Goderich Figure Skating Club. Four other pupils of Mr. Pettit also com- peted at Stoney Creek_ Anne Allan placed sixth in Interpretive Free Style on Friday. On Saturday, she placed ninth in a Free Style event_ She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Allan`of Goderich. Patty Barger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs_ Allen Barger of Lucknow, placed tenth in her flight .and Aveleigh Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Cook of Goderich, tied for seventh place in her free style event. Another local club competitor, Carol Deckert also sakted and placed fifth in her Free Style flight and moved into sixth spot after figures were skated.
