Iioimesville United Church was decorated with tall
fruits .and vegetables and dandelabras with peach,
yellow and •green • silk flowers for the wedding
ceremony of Sharon D. Potter and Larry G. Johnston
on Saturday, October.21.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Potter off Clinton and the groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ford Johnston of Varna.
The Reverend John Oestreicher officiated at the
double ring ceremony. Organist was Miss Cathie
Potter and soloist, Mr. Bill Craig sang "Walk Hand In
Hand" and "The Hawaiian Wedding Song" during the
ceremony.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She
wore a •full-length white flounced silk organza gown
trimmed with white satin ribbon and valencin lace
inserts. The gown featured long, bouffant sleeves and
a high neck with fitted bodice. The gown was com-
plemented with a three -tiered cathedral -length veil
trimmed with lace to match the gown.
The bride also wore a heirloom locket which her
mother had worn on her wedding day. She carried a
cascade bouquet of orange, peach and talisman roses
accented with silk ribbons.
Mrs. Bonnie Edgeworth, friend of the bride was
matron of honor. She wore a long, peach colored
blouson styled gown with small straps and a sheer
cape in a peach shade. She carried a basket of peach,
yellow and brown silk flowers.
Junior bridesmaid was Miss Tracy Potter, sister of
the bride. She was gowned identically to the matron of
honor and carried a smaller basket of matching •
flowers. "'•
Groomsman was Lorne Taylor of Bayfield, friend of
the groom. The guests•*ere ushered into the church by
TomJohnston, brother of the groom and Phil Potter,
brother of the bride.
The groom and his attendants wore hunter green
tuxedos with peach boutonnieres.
Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was
held at the White Carnation in Holmesville.
The brides mother greeted' guests- wearing a' long
tiered gown of peach chiffon with a corsage of brown
and beige silk flowers.
The groom's mother assisted wearing a long mint
green gown with pleated skirt and a corsage of yellow
silk roses.
Master of ceremonies at the reception was Rex
eo
in
Johnston, brother of the groom. Music for the
retention was supplied,by Southern Comfort.
Far a wedding trip to the Windsor area, the bride
changed to a two piece leather skirt and jacket with a
bowed blouse of baby -blue color, accented with navy
accessories.. She also wore a hat in *Tinter white with a
large light blue silk flower attached. The groom was
dressed in blue with a tan colored suede jacket and a
boutonniere of blue carantions.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnston are residing at 124 Cambria
Road North in Goderich.
Prior to the wedding, the bride was feted at several
showers.
Mrs. Susan Corriveau hosted a shower at her home
on behalf of the employees at the Registry Office.
Mrs. Aileen Baker gave a surprise Buck and Doe
shower on behalf off the employees of the Bluewater
Cable Company.
Mrs. Mary Ann Johnston held a shower at her home
on behalf of the groom's relatives and a shower for the
bride's relatives was hosted by Mrs. Rita Potter at her
home.
A surprise shower was held at the home of Mrs.
Helen Westbrook for friends of the bride.

Ceebrate g�lden wedding anniversary
On October 27, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Freeth of 91
Park Street, Goderich, were joined by their children,
grandchildren, and many relatives, friends and neigh-
bours in the celebration of their Golden Wedding
Anniversary.
A dinner and reception were held at the Rc yal
Canadian Legion, where Mr. and Mrs. Freeth were
piped into the hall by Mr. Bert McCreath.
Mrs. Freeth wore a floor -length gown of sea -green
chiffon with gold accessories and a corsage of orchids.
The couple was accompanied at the head table by
Mrs. Freeth's three sisters, Mrs. Jean Martin of
Ardrossan, Scotland,. Mrs. Marion 'Gallaway of Salt-
coats, Scotland, Mrs. Agnes Craig. of Fort Mitchell,
Kentucky; and one brother, Mr. Harry Norrie of
Hollywood, Florida.
Mr. Norrie was best man at the Freeth's wedding 50
years ago and this was the first time all the sisters and
brother had been together in 54 years.
Other out-of-town guests attended from Ohio,
Michigan, New York, Vancouver, Toronto, London, St.

Friday evening,
November 3 and all day
Saturday, November 4 in
Toronto.
The conference,
sponsored by the
Federation of Women
Teachers' Associations of
Ontario, was designed to
help teachers develop
practical strategies for

Congratulatory messages also were received from
the Prime Minister' of Canada; ,Premier Davis of

Goderich.
Mr. and Mrs. Freeth have. three children, Mrs.
Marion Wilson. of Guelph'; Bill of Hensall; and Mrs.
Julia Hicks of Vancouver. They also have 11 grand-
children and three great-grandchildren.
Music for the reception was provided by "Maple
Sugar" of Hensall.
During the dinner, Scottish and selected music was
played by Ed Stiles at the organ.
