DENTINGER what he is doing; surely it PASTOR OF is good to have . Jesus ' ASHFIELD PARISH near. In these incidents Dick Van Dyke, wh there is a deep wisdom used to teach Sunday which is all too often School, recalls a couple of forgotten and must be wise sayings from his learned again so pain - pupils. Asked to state her fully in the school of life.. favourite Bible story, a We mourn a lost five-year-old said: simplicity, not the least in "Jesus changing the the basic trust we have in water into wine." the power and presence To his question, what off God in everything we did you learn from this encounter — especially miracle, she answered: when we have failed. "When you have a Failure can be a wedding it's a good idea marvellous opportunity to have Jesus there too." to come back. Failure is Another anecdote he certainly a part of relates: A boy was everyone's human watching the sunset -with condition. We may call it his mother when she said a goof, a mistake, a hard -- "Look the moon's lesson, but whatever the coming up and the sun is cause, the truth is that we still shining." - fail time and again. What "Don't worry mom," can anyone do in the face said the little boy, "God of a particular failure? knows what He is doing." First of all - face the inister's study fact. Failure is not a sin, though there may be faults in the cir- cumstances. One can admit moral faults, seek forgiveness and then proceed to recover. For example, I may fail badly my driving test. This failure is not morally sinful, though I might have to admit sloth in preparing for the test. Secondly, in the face off failure, I can ask myself — what did I learn from this? Learning from this failure as from any other failure is the ordinary way God expects man to mature. Suppose I find that basically I forgot my confidence in the. Lord. I may have failed to put my heart at ease before I Goderich and area deaths JAMES HENRY BROWN James Henry Brown of Ashfield Township died in Alexandra Marine and 'General Hospital, Goderich on Friday, October '20 at the age of 69. - He was born in Ashfield Township on January 4, 1909 to Maude (Young) and William Nelson Brown. AUDITORIUM Advertisement Published By CHAMPION ROAD MACHINERY made the decision which led to failure. This is a valuable lesson to learn for the future. A certain poise off heart - spiritual writers call it detachment from the results - .is really necessary to provide an honest dependence oy God. What the Word wills is often obscure and may be quite deeper than appears at first. It may be that the 'no' answer to' our prayer' or .failure to achieve success is the way the Lord teaches faith and trust. Thirdly, one has to face the fact that mistakes and failure will come. To avoid failure at all costs is a mistaken principle of action. The Lord has made men to learn from mistakes. This is not a perfect world, man -is not perfect. But the love of God is sufficient and strong enough for the people He made. The famous poem which likens God to `a House of hezven insists that the Lord will pursue through every cir- cumstance, the wayward and rebellious heart. He pursues each one of us with an individual love. He knows we will make mistakes and He knows we ..can learn to return to the simple trust of childhood. We can listen in our failure to our, most childlike adult lesson: Don't worry, God knows what He is doing. Sometimes He says, Yes, sometimes, No. He never refuses to forgive our mistakes and failures. He does even ,more. He forgives but .y'iH; does What is even more than human, in forgiving, he forgets.
