Gray said his company
has no • plans for. its
Seaforth property. He
also said "we felt quite
sorry" about the sudden
notice given to workers.
Tom Young who has
been manager of the egg -
grading plant for 12 years
under previous
management and for the
Gray company, said he
learned of the closure
Friday night . and had -
heard no warning.
"It's a big shock for the
employees and for the
town of Seaforth," he
said. Young, who is
among those now•
unemployed, said he
doesn't think any of the
Gray employees have job
prospects. "We're not
going to do anything," he
said, except apply for
unemployment insurance
benefits and begin the
search for new jobs.
Drug plan..
for animals
Agriculture and Food
Minister Bill Newman
has stated that with the
regulations under The
Livestock Medicines Act
coming into effect on
September 19, - 1978,
approximately 1,000
suppliers of animal
health products will
'require licences to sell
their products to
livestock owners.
The act applies to the
sale of livestock and
poultry drugs by persons
other than pharmacists
or veterinarians.
Mr. Newman said,
"The provisions of this
act will ensure that drugs
are handled and stored in
an appropriate manner to
maintain their quality. In
this way, the netv
requirements will protect
both the livestock
prodecer and the con-
sumer."
The Minister said that
the Veterinary Services
Branch, which ad-
ministers the act, has
mailed copies of the act,
the regulations and the
application forms to all
persons and firms af-
fected by the licencing
requirements. Phar-
maceutical companies
have also been sent
dies of the act and
re niationi.
