Even though there was
an encouraging number
of Colborne residents at
the ratepayers'- meeting
in Colborne Township
Hall last Thursday
evening, it really wasn't a
good enough showing, for
if we, as Colborne
Township residents; don't
show our interest and
concern in township
matters when the Reeve,
Deputy Reeve, coun-
cillors, representatives to
the. School Board and
others who have reports
to give, are giving their
reports for the term,
showing where and, how
our tax dollar is being
spent, is there much
encouragement for those
in office?
The Township Clerk,
Wilmer Hardy, opened
the meeting and after
being chosen as chair-
man for the evening
called for the reports.
DOUG McNEIL, Reeve
of Colborne Township
welcomed all present and
gave a full report of his
work for the term,
thanking the ratepayers -
for having the op-
portunity of being Reeve.
He has also been Warden
of Huron County for 1977.
He stated it was a won-
derful experience as well
as being very -
educational. He has
served on many com-
mittees during his 14

years of service.
SHIRLEY HAZLITT,
representative on the
13uron County Board of
Education, ' gave a full
and interesting report
and announced she would
seek re-election. Mrs.
Hazlitt, being a former
teacher, is quite
knowledgeable on this
subject and has worked
well in this department
for
Colborne Township.
At this meeting there was
no contestant seeking this
office.
WILLIAM BOGIE, who
has been on the council
for six years, thanked the,
ratepayers for the op-
portunity of serving them
and reported for the,
Recreation Committee of
which he is President. He
also reported regarding
he Airport Committee
which is very interesting
and where progress is
noted. He also reported
hat the Farm Safety
Committee work is
eaping satisfactory
esults.
He is stepping up and

TANZANIANS
INSTRUCTED
AT GODERICH
Besides berng the
prettiest town in Canada,
Goderich is noted for
many other special
achievements.
Within the last couple
of weeks two gentlemen,
sergeants in the Tan-
zanian Armed Forces,.
Africa, " returned horse
after spending several
weeks in the Goderich
district. These men were
in Canada with a large
number of officers and
enlisted men 'from their
country, learning to fly
and maintain De
Haviland of Canada
aircraft. In question were
the Buffalo, Caribou and
Twin Otter planes built in
Toronto.
As part of the course,
these two men were sent
to Sky Harbour
Refinishing Ltd. at the
Goderich Airport to be
instructed in the care and
re -painting process" as
part of the maintenance
service of their aircraft in
Tanzania.
This instruction period
lasted for three weeks
and during that time,
they gathered con-
siderable information
and first-hand experience
in the painting of air-
planes which they will put
into practise in their own
country. John Edward,
refitiishef' foreman, in-
structed the men and
enjoyed working with
them as ' did all the em-
pioyees in the shop.
correspondent, 524-2076
The men were very
pleased' and excited to be
in Canada and were quite
knowledgeable of our
political system. They
found the people in the
community very friendly
and helpful and .enjoyed
shopping in Goderich,
which they found very
unique. Our Canadian
weather to them seemed
terribly cold and un-
predictable and they
were very glad to return
to their 90 and 100 degree.
weather.
Sky Harbour Finishing
and Paint Shop is very
flattered to have people
sent to them from far
away places to learn of -
their finishing
techniques.
