Lorenze Adam, Edmonton,
Alberta, and Mr. and Mrs.
Weldon Rudow (nee Bertha
Jones) of Elmira. On Satur-
day Mr. and Mrs. WiIf
Massey (nee Pauline Jones)
from Cleveland, Ohio, visited
with Mel. Mrs. Rudow and
Mrs. Massey are sisters,
daughters of the late Frank
Jones and former residents
of Dungannon. Their father
was a harness maker in the
village for many years.
Mr. and Mrs. George
Turton_of Goderich._called on.
Mel Jones on Sunday.
Mrs. Ruth Austin off Tor-
onto spent the weekend with
her mother, Mrs. Mary Bere
and Jamie.
Sunday visitors with the
Beres were Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Farrell of Kincardine.
Congratulations to ` Mr.
and Mrs. Don Culbert (nee
Linda Young) on the birth of
a son, Michael Donald, in
Alexandra Hospital, Goder-
ich, on Sunday, October 15, a
brother for Douglas.
Congratulations to Mr.
and Mrs. Greg Maize, Lones-
boro, on the birth of a son,
Douglas Gregory, in hospital
'in London, a brother for
Bruce.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stirl-
ing, Darlene and Harold of
Thamesville spent Sunday
with Betty's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Irvin.
Mr. Lorne Hasty travelled
to Kamloops, B.C. by plane
last week to visit his daught-
er, Irene Hasty, who has
been nursing in the hospital
there. Irene and. Lorne mot-
ored home and Irene plans to
stay around for a while.
Mrs. Annie Kilpatrick and
Mrs. Ada Woods of Lucknow
visited Mrs. Cecil Blake on
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Thompson have returned
'from a motor trip to the West
Coast and Vancouver Island
during which time they
visited Frank's aunt and
other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. -Graham
McNee spent the weekend in
London with Allan and
Sandra McNee, Eddie and
Paul.
Sympathy is extended to
the family and friends of,the
late Frank Hawkins, whose
funeral was from. McCallum
Funeral Home, Goderich,
last Monday. Mr. Hawkins
was a brother of Mrs. Ross
McNee, Mrs. Les Johnston,
and Mrs. Agnes Foster. He
is also survived by his wife,
the former Mabel Glahn, and
one son and two daughters.

UNITED CHURCH
Rev. C. G. Westhaver
preached his sermon on,
"What we Believe about the
Kingdom", at the Sri'nday
morning service. The Child-
"ren's story was "A Strong
Tower". The choir sang an
anthem, "Farther Along",
led by the organist, Mrs.
Jean Elliott.
Men with singing ability
are asked to consider joining
the choir. Our choir needs
some male voices.
The Christian Fellowship
Church is sponsoring; '. a
display and sale of hand-
made articles from overseas
countries at the Brookside
{.Public School on Thursday
evening.
The 1979 Church calendar
is now available from Mrs.

The Dungannon U.C.W.
held a very enjoyable Fun
and Fellowship meeting on
October 17 with a very good
attendance. Mrs. Amy Wig-
gins welco n. ed the guests
and read two poems.
The meeting was then
turned over to the committee
in charge, Mrs. Donna Alton,
Mrs. Dorothy Pentland, and
Mrs. Evelyn Westhaver who
conducted contests and gam-
es awarding prizes to the
winners. There was a music-
al contest to guess old
favourites conducted by Mrs.
Diane Park with Mrs. Jean
Bluegrass
music
in Blyth
Those who' like folk or
bluegrass music will
have an excellent op-
portunity for enjoyment
Sunday night when a
topflight concert comes
to Memorial Hall, Blyth.
The ' concert is spon-
sored by CKNX FM
Sterio 102 and the Blyth
Centre for the Arts and
will feature the popular
bluegrass band, The
Dixie Flyers who per-
formed at Memorial Hall
last spring. The Flyers
are one of the top
bluegrass bands in
Ontario and have a
popular following in
many areas.
AIso on hand for the
concert will be Dublin -
area recording artist Bob
Burchill. Mr. Burchill has
performed his blend of
folk and country music
across Ontario and as far
away as Sweden. His
album, Will I Ever Get to
Heaven, has been widely
praised by music critics.
The third act on the bill
is Barb Banfield of
London , who has con-
nections with Bluegrass
music.
The concert will be
taped for later broadcast
on'FM 102. Tickets for the
show are available at the
door on the night of the
performance. ,

Westhaver read a contest of
twenty questions for which
the winner was named
"Woman of the Week". This
was won by Mrs. Tinie
Logtenberg. Other winners
were Mrs. Marjorie Pentland
for having her birthday
closest to October 20 ' and
Mrs. Elsie Irvin.
A delicious dessert lunch
was served and all enjoyed a
time of fellowship.
Mrs. Westhaver read a
poem. Mrs. Penny Hodges
thanked the people who
helped with the Walkathon
and announced that the
Willing Workers have tenta-
tive plans to hold a Christ-
mas bazaar in December.
There will be plant sale and
donations of plant slips will
be welcomed. .
Mrs. Amy Wiggins re-
minded the ladies that the
latter part of November is
busy with three catering
events so it was decided to
hold the November meeting
a week early.

On October 29 a group
from the Floradale Church
will be here t� share a service
in fellowship with the Dun-
gannon congregation. A pot
luck meal will follow the,
service.
The Boy's and Girl's Bible
Club got off to a good start on
Saturday when forty children
attended the first meeting.
The meeting began with
singing and Bible story
presentation. Later the girls
did craft work while the boys
enjoyed a hike to a nearby
wooded area. -
Nine representatives from various Beta Sigma Phi
Sorority clubs in the area have formed a joint
council. Included on the council who will meet in
Clinton are, front row,left to right, Marjorie Payne,
Mitchell; Joy McKee, Goderich; Pat Spence,

In an attempt to draw
nine area Beta Sigma Phi
chapters together, a joint
council has been formed...
The council made up of
nine representatives
from the individual
groups will include three
chapters from Exeter,
two Goderich branches
two from Clinton, a
chapter from Mitchell
and one in Kincardine.
By drawing .the
chapters together as a
community, the Beta
Sigma Phi organization
in the area, hope to gain
mutual support for their
fund raising and social
activities as well as
exchange ideas and solve
any problems that arise.
As well, with the joint
council, the annual
Founder's Day dinner,
held each year in April
will become a 'group
event.
The area council is
considering the idea of,
forming a newsletter to
be sen to each chapter
wafter ;tie council meets.
Their , meetings will be
held in Clinton. It was
chosen as a common
meeting place because of
its central location. The
_ea�lnc.11 . will meet again
on November 22.
Those involved in the
committee include:

One of the Clinton
sorority chapters is
presently selling tickets
on a quilt. They have also
planned a bazaar to be
held at the town hall on
Saturday December 2.
The Kincardine "
chapter is in the midst of
planning a toy library.
Although it may be a
lending library in the
future, the Beta Sigma .
Phi . there are planning
the library as " a place'
where *.dhildrei; Borne for
a story hour, and play",
with the toys that are
available.
