With the help of a New Horizons grant, the residents of Maitland Manor
were able•to purchase a kiln and have been busy with'ceramicfis ever since.
They plan to hold a bazaar on Wednesday, October 25 to show and sell their

Stratford
set for 1979
The Stratford Festival
will present 12 produc-
tions on its three stages in
1979, Artistic Director
Robin Phillips announced
Three productions of
Shakespeare will be done
at the Festival Theatre:
"The First Part of Henry
IV",, "Love's Labour's
Lost", and, "The Second
Part of Henry IV".
Edward Bond's "The
Woman" will have its
North American
premiere at the 'Festival
next Season, as an-
nounced earlier.
The Avon stage will
,house two Shakespeare
plays: "Othello" and
"Richard IL" As an-
nounced, • Philip Barry's
1920's comedy,
"Holiday", will alb be
presented at the Avon
Theatre; together with a
revival -of Sheldon
Rosen's "Ned and Jack",
seen this year at the
Third Stage.
Not previously an-
nounced is an Avon stage
revival of the Festival's
highly successful
production of Oscar
Wilde's "The Importance
of Being Earnest", which
enjoyed a brief run of
performances at the
Third Stage in 1975 and
was revived the following
year in the larger house.
At the Third stage in
1979: Shakespeare's "The
Taming of the Shrew",
"Victoria", a com-
missioned work by
Ontario playwright Steve
Petch, and "Yerma", in a
newly commissioned
'adaptation by Kenneth
Dyba of Spanish
playwright Federico
Garcia Lorca's drama.
Further details of
production and casting
for next Season will be
announced shortly.
The bazaar will be held
at the Manor on Wed-
nesday, October 25 from

feature ceramics,
decoupage, Christmas
decorations, afghans,
plants and bake table.
Tea will be served to
those visiting the bazaar
as well.
The residents were
busy this week preparing
ceramic mugs, salt and
pepper shakers',
ashtrays, ornaments and
bookends in preparation
for the bazaar. • •
Several months ago the
residents' council
decided to apply for a
New Horizons grant and
when it was received,
they further decided that
they would like to buy,a
kiln with which to do
" ceramics. They've been
busy ever since.
"They enjoy it and so
do I," said Activity
Director Rita Toby.
"They like to see the end
results of their work. It
gives them a tremendous
boost."
"We strive more for a
sense of achievement
rather 'than feectios"

think considering their
average age is 75 that
they do pretty well."
About 25 residents take
part in ceramics once a
week. Miss Doreen
MacKenzie, GDCI art
teacher and four or five
students visit the Manor -
every Friday to help with
the ceramics.
Along with the kiln, the
residents also purchased
a film projector ,so that
they may nepjoy films
whenever possible.
Those residents who
enjoy 'greerrery art' busy
growing plants with the
Gro Light that was
donated ..to them ..by tilts.

Goderich last -year. These
plants will be shown and
sold at the bazaar.
