He is the first lay chairman since Huron and Perth presbyteries amalgamated ten years ago. The ministerial and lay delegates met in the new Christian Education wing of Atwood United Church. The addition was built almost entirely' by volunteers of the congregation,. Eight new ministers were welcomed to Huron - Perth: Rev. Daniel Yourkevich, Tavistock; Rev. James Vanslyke, Seaforth; - Rev. Bruce Eaton, Sebringville; Rev. Alun Thomas, Bayfield; Rev. Robert McMullen, Brucefield; Rev. Roy Babstock, Parkview, Stratford; Rev. James Forsythe, Exeter; and Rev. Camilla LaRoche, Kirkton. An enthusiastic report of the Presbytery's booth at the A, International Plowing Match revealed that a minimum of 15,000 people ..._ . viewed the "Market Place Ministry" which served 5,755 cups of coffee and 800, dozen cookies. The facility was operated by 238 volun- teers headed by chair- man Tom Dunn and secretary Evelyn Demerey, both of Bluevale. Rev. Ed Baker, Walton was in charge of the daily program; Mrs. Myrtle Walkom, Mit- chell, publicity and literature; Gordon Richardson, Clinton, float, Re'` Bruce Eaton, Sebringville, missionary displays; Clayton Ben- der, Listowel, property and Mrs. Muriel Coultis, Belgrave, UCW hostess division. Budget for the un- dertaking was $2,500, funded largely. by the Presbytery and a London Conference block grant. Rev. Fred Faist, Mitchell and Mrs. Cora • Thistle, Stratford in their report on needs and resources indicated there was a strongconcern about' youtwork, couples' clubs, visitation and .personal Bible study. The survey began a year ago. Mrs. Thistle is the Conference and National representative for the "people bank", a -source of ekperie.tice and talent. Wintario grants to 13 Grants totalling $38,196 have been approved for 13 projects in Huron County from the proceeds of the Ontario Lottery. Culture and Recreation Minister Reuben 'C. Baetz said today's grants are' part of the Share Win- tario program for the support of cultural and recreational facilities and activities. - To date ,in 1978, the ministry has allotted $52.2 million to more than 6,254 groups and projects throughout the province. A grant of $23,158 is to go to the Township of Tuckersmith to share in the costs of constructing a community centre complete with a comunity hall, agYmnasium and an - indoor- pool........- ... _. ...... . 'the Brussels Flying Club is to receive a grant of $5,973 to assist with the purchase of a Cessna 'aircraft. A grant of $9,943 is to go to the Vanastra Curling Club in Clinton to -aid in the costs of renovations and the purchase of an ice scraper. The Goderich Slow - ,Pitch League will use a grant of $684 to .assist with the purchase of equipment and trophies. A grant of $671 will be made to the. Seaforth- Dashwood Community Band to assist with the purchase of winter uniforms. The Walkerton Area Sports Club is to receive a grant of $603 to aid in the costs 3f installing a fence around a local ball diamond. A grant of $477 will be made to the Township of Howick • to aid in the purchase of spectator heaters for the Howick Arena. The Auburn 'Softball Committee is to receive a grant of $431 to help buy equipment. A grant of $423 is to be made to the Exeter Tennis Club to help buy equipment. The Fourth Goderich Boy Scouts will use a grant of $377 to defray the costs of travel to attend the Canadian National Rover Moot in Alberta. A grant of $,375 is to go to the Goderich Figure Skating Club to aid in the purchase of costumes and materials. Goderich Township Recreation Softball will use a grant of $355 to aid in . the purchaseof equipment. A grant of $226 will go to the Exeter Figure Skating Club to aid in the purchase of equipment. and records. Agricultural hall of fame to be established The Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame is accepting new members now, says Bob Carbert, curator of the Ontario Agricultural Museum in Milted. The association. plans to create an Agricultural Hall of Fame at the museum. "Individuals who have made outstanding con- tributions to Ontario agriculture can be nominated to the hall of fame by association members." The . association, , for- med one year ago, is non- profit, and financed entirely by life mem- berships. Membership is open to individuals, organizations and cor- porations. Individual memberships cost $25. Membershi-ps for organizations and cor- porations cost $100.
