and Shelagh Sully went to
the 18th hole, when
Shelagh missed a putt
which would have tied the
match, leaving Della the
victor, and Ladies' Club
Champion.
Congratulations, • Della,
and there's always next
year, Shelagh!
Verna Kane and
Shelagh, again, ,played
off for the Rose Bowl. All
tied. up at the end of 18,
the x had to play sudden
death, • and on the first
green, , Verna holed out a
long 20' putt to win the
match. Nice putting,
Verna. This year a
bridesmaid, Shelagh,
.next year a bride! ,This
match had been played
previous to Cham-
pionship Day, but the
prizes were awarded
then.
Verna Jackson was the
recipient of the Maitland
Trophy, an 18 hole
handicap stroke play,
with Della the runner-up.
The Scotch two -ball
match had also been
decided previously
because obviously, Della
couldn't possible have
played all these matches
in one day. Della Bedard
and Grace Neville won
out over Mary -Anne
Dempsey and Sue White.
Last year Grace had
donated a trophy for the
Scotch two -ball, so this
year she was co -recipient
of her own trophy.

wins ladies' crown by one stroke
A number of years ago,
the 'Board of Directors
were kind enough to
donate a trophy to the
Ladies' Section in honour
of Mrs. Dolly Bruce. This
is called the "Mrs. Geo.
Bruce" trophy and is
presented to the lady who
has lowered her handicap
most during the current
golf season. Vern Frith
was this year's winner,
and she received an oil
painting, painted and
presented by Mrs. Bruce.
Now, down off these
heady heights of trophy
winners to the ordinary
golfers. First flight low
gross winners were
Della, Doris Paquette
and Hazel Beaver, while
net winners were
Shelagh, Verna Jackson
and Jean Knight.
Second flight saw Janet
Gemmill, Vern Frith and
Jen Hanly take gross
prizes, while Edna
Looker, Chris Hoffmeyer
and Bud Elliot earned net
prizes.
Third Flight had Carol
Hunter, Bertha McGee
and Joyce Shack win
gross prizes and Marilyn
James, Joanne Jasper
and Catharine Walsh
come in for net prizes.
Verna /Cane, Joan
MacDougall and Joanne
McCallum were the best
putters in the three
flights.
Gross prizes for the
nine hole competition
were taken by Marie
Huff, Bess Smith and
Betty Ferguson, while
Lillian Kelly, Doris

Duncan were net prize
winners. Putting in the

The Putting Sheet is
also based on the whole
year's play and prizes for
this were taken home by

and Bereth Jessop.
With the sun shining
benignly down on us, the
whole day went off
beautifully, and Debbie
and her girls had a lovely
supper prepared for us.
After supper and the
prizegiving, we had fun,
fun, fun!
At great expense to the
management, one of the
leading gossip columnists
gave us the low-down on
the lady golfers, and the
Maitland Mummers
presented their version of
"The Low Cow". Martina
Schneiker presided at the
piano, with percussion
accompaniment of
spoons, and we had a
good old fashioned sing-
song.
There will be golf and
lunch available on
Tuesday nights as long as
the weather stays
decent, so don't pack up
those clubs yet!
