Institute September
meeting was held in
Colborne Twp. Hall,
Thursday September 19.
The president, Mrs. R,
Buchanan, opened the
meeting welcoming all
present and all joined in
the opening exercises.
Guests which included
members of Clinton
Women's Institute and
other guests pre -sent
introduced themselves
and were warmly
welcomed.
Correspondence was
given attention which
included a card of thanks
from Mr. and Mrs.
Carman Feagan, a letter
informing of Huronview
Auxiliary Autumn Tea
Wednesday, Oct. 11 2-4
p.m., a letter from
Historical Society in-
forming of fall meetings.
Plans were made -for
the institute's part in the
International Ploughing
Match. The Institute Fall
Rally to be at Londesboro
on Monday Oct. 2ncr. with
Huron West hosting and
guest speaker Provincial
Curator Mrs. Howe. The
Are Convention to be
held at the Banqueter RR
1 London, on Nov. 1.
The topic for the
meeting was Crafts with
the roll call being a
"Pioneer Craft" _and
several brought a craft
they have been busy
• doing this term and Mrs.
Wilmer Hardy gave an
interesting talk and with
the assistance of Mrs.
Ruth Knight andMrs.
Vos. showed beautiful
articles that have been
nide, some of which
were still on the looms,
also wool that has been
dyed showing what
nature products were
used to get the various
colors. It all was very
interesting and
educational and was
climaxed by a poem on
Weaving read by Mrs.
Eric Reaburn.
The president, thanked
the ladies for this in-
teresting • topic. The
October meeting date will
be changed to Wednesday.
Oct. 25th 1:45 p.m. with
topic in charge of Family
and Consumer Affairs
convenors, Mrs. 0.
I plaits part in ploughing
Falitiner and Mrs. J.
Horton, and the speaker
will be Miss Mary Luanne
Clare.
Congratulations were
extended to Mrs.
Maitland Montgomery
who celebrated a 25th
wedding anniversary
recently and Mrs.
Terence Hunter who had
a birthday the day of the
Institute meeting.
Members and guests then
enjoyed a social half hour
with lunch served by Mrs,
R?. Jewell, Mrs. DeGroot,
Mrs. D. McNeil and hags.
Sherwood after _which "a
penny sale was held With
Mrs. Ila Bean aiid Mrs.
Florence Robertson in
charge. Time was spent
viewing the crafts and the
weaving and Mrs. Badkin
of Clinton Institute
moved a vote of thanks to
the Hosting Institute for a
splendid friendly and
interesting meeting.
COUNTRY FAIR
The Christmas Country
Fair which will be held in
Saltford Valley Hall
Wednesday October 18th
through Saturday
October 21 draws crowds
from near and far to view
and purchase Crafts of
various natures and to
date has every indication
of being one of the best.

• No. 1 held their second
meeting at Colborne
Township Hall Monday
evening Sept.- 18. The
meeting opened with the
4-H Pledge and all
members were present.
Nancy Brindley read the
-minutes of last meeting.
and Denise Connolly,
Treasurer,' gave her
report. Lynda Feagan,
President, welcomed two
new members to the
group. She then read the
Roll Call which was the
"Eating Habit Sarvey"
which ,was answered by
all the members.
The girls then were
divided into two groups
and they made "Energy
Squares" after which
Helen and Nancy Brin-
dley, leaders of the
group, discussed break-
fast and brunch ideas,
ancl Helen Brindley then
went over the material
for the .next meeting and
--answered-any-questions-
the members had. The
Late afternoon or evening wear this fall is soft and
supple and the shades are delicate enough to give a
total look of femininity. In the lead is Margaret
Doona In a pale blue dress •featuring a waist
gathered and tied with a matching string belt. Just
above the hem is a scant ruffle. At back Is Beth
Jeffery In a pure white dress of yards and yards of
soft material pulled in at the waist with a self belt
and featuring a row of tiny buttons up the front
which can either be closed to give a look of high -
necked elegance or left open for a provocative

made and the healthy
peanut bread and the
meeting closed with the 4-
H creed, read by Nancy
Brindley and 'they will
meet again next Monday
evening.
Next week promises to
be a busy one as the
International P rowing
Match which will be a red
letter event will be held
near Wingham. Sep-
tember 26-30 and will
afford plenty of activity
for men and women,
young and old.
COLBORNE
SCHOOL
Children are back to
school and everything is
in full swing ahead. Next
Wednesday, September
27 will be professional
activity day- so -children
will have a holiday.
Mr. Frank Flick,
custodian of Colborne
Central School, has
retired aifter many years
of service. Frank was
very well liked by all and
on awards night was
preser4ed with a gift and
at the Staff Party -was
given a - suitable
remembrance for his
years of service. Many -
will say, thanks Frank for
a job well done.
Mr. Maitland Mon-
tgomery. is the new
Custodian and- the staff
and children welcome
him and look forward to
