Huron Men's Chapel upholds the Biblical teaching of the flower of the resurrected Christ in the life of every truly born again believer. According to. 2 Corin- thians 5:17, "If any man be IN CHRIST he is a new creature, a new creation altogether; the old sinful self life is passed away, a new life has begun." The Huron Men's Chapel believes Jesus can meet every need of CHURCH Mir your life. The Chapel services are open to everyone of all ages to attend. Nursery facilities operate at all services. Course available for married folk BY REV. A:F. LOEBACH PASTOR. ST. PETER'S -ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH "Looking out over the world we saw that the major unit of our society, the family, is in grave danger. The very in- stitution of marriage is being challenged. People no longer respect that Sacrament, nor do they respect sex, nor God's wishes in regards to sex. Children are rebelling against parents and parents are selfishly pursuing their own course of action w-ithout-- worrying about their children. Marriages are breaking down and the divorce rate is soaring. And the worst of it is that many people seem to think that this is nor- mal." Thus wrote our former bishop, now archbishop of Toronto, Bishop Carter, in a letter to his people last spring. It was the launching of a campaign among Catholics of the Diocese of London which is called Marriage and • Family Renewal. It is a positive step on the part of all Catholics of the Diocese to call a halt to the rapid deterioration of family life. What has gone into the formation of this program? First of all a married couple of the Diocese, Pat and Toni, 25 years married and parents. of four grown-up children, were commissioned to conduct a thorough in- vestigation into the state of marriage in the area. couples Representative P =from—parishes—rnet-with- R-4rishioners them and were given an, Parish will gradually opportunity to say what come to know and ap theythought had gone preciate their part in the wrong, and what they project. thought should be done. Third Step: Learning. Finally, the most ambitious part of the program will take place during Lent of 1979. A serious effort will be made to involve every married couple in a six- week course of lectures and discussion regarding marriage. By this means it is hoped that our Catholic couples will come to a deeper appreciation•= of - their vocation. All too often in our soeicty, there is offered to us a distorted, unspiritual view of marriage. One could easily conclude that married life has no greater purpose than ea simply to insure the continuation of the human species. And sex is degraded into nothing more dignified than a means of achieving pleasure. Only when there is a deeper realization that marriage is God's way to holiness can marriage be what God meant it to be. The objective of this Marriage and Family Renewal Program is to help our people see clearly what God had in mind when He gave us marriage. The concern of our Bishop about the state of marriage and family life is shared, we are sure, by SUPERIOR MEMORIALS ESTABLISHED OVER 50 YEARS Goderich Area • Representative , ROBERT_MCCALLUM. 11 Cambria Road Goderich 524-7345 Clinton-Seaforth Area Representative MICHAEL FALCONER 153 High Street Clinton 482-9441 REMEMBER This Saturday Won't you please put out your old pp newspapers OTARY NEWSPAPER PICKUP Saturday, Sept. 16 Please have your old newspapers on the boulevard by 10:00 a.m. when collection starts.
