Goderich Township Council gives four permits Four building permits were issued when Goderich Township Council met recently. John Westbrook received a permit to remodel his barn; R. Kapte in received one to build a drive shed; M. Wigan received one for an ad- dition to his house and J. McAlister to remodel a workshop and build storage shed is being held pending a site diagram. Mrs. E. Ross was present at the council meeting to request that a portion a her property be changed from open space to residential but no motions were recorded regarding this request, Frank Cowan, represented by Dave Reed, reviewed in- surance with council and one change was authorized. Kleinfeldt Association, represented by Mr. Spring ett , presented a plan for 41 residential lots on Ron Samways' property, lot .40, con were recorded regarding this plan. Chris Kiar was present at the council meeting on behalf of four clients. On behalf of Rutherford„ he presented a draft plan for 42 residential lots on lot 78 B.L. Council agreed that Plan 2-78-189 suited the lot better than the original request. Goderich Township council Agreed at a recent • special meeting to accept a bequest from the late Mrs. Pearl Woon, go be used exclusively tp, build a community centre in memory of her late •hu,:band, John. a long- time resident farmer of the township. Although the size of the hequest has not been divulgec, it is believed to he bet een $70,000 and $100.000, and Deputy - Reeve Grant Stirling,. who is also chairman of the township's recreation committee, said that the money had been put into a special trust fund until required when con- struction of the building begins. -I'd like to see it up within two years," • Stirling said. "It will definitely be located -in Holmesville, the only hamlet in the township." "It would be centrally located there and would serve the general public as well as township residents," he said. Sketch plans for the community centre, which would include a hall and a gymnasium, were shown" at an enthusiastic township recreation committee meeting, but more public input will be sought before .final specifications are drawn up. "We don't want to build a white elephant that no one will use," Stirling said. The hequest, along with a community centres act grant and a Wintario grant could give the township front $125,000 to $175,000 to work with. "We're not too sure about the Wintario grant, money's getting pretty tight." Reder, Kiar presented a plan to develop 20 residential lots on 1, part lot 74 E.L. No motions were recorded regarding this plan. Robert Langendoen requested information from council regarding the establishment-- of a hog epp.ration and a residence on six acres of lot 31, concession 3. No motions were recorded. G.. Lobb requested information from council on severances, building permits, sewage lagoons, certificates of com- • pliance, etc. No motions were recorded. H.B. Whitely requested a tile drain loan of $3,300 for lot 14, concession 7. Council passed a motion that - -the • forth -a -To -an application be rescinded and replaced with the one for $3,300. • Tax write-offs were authorized for John Scott ($21.93), Bruce Miller ($65.10) and Gary Merner ($54.48). Fire bills -from Bayfield were referred to G.H. Stirling for investigation. The Goderich Area Housing Committee has requested that the township pay itsshare of the $40,000 being budgetddm-TOF -land acquisition. Council passed, a motion stating that the township 'will accept its share of $40,000 using the taxable . assessment of that part of the township presently covered by the Goderich Fire Area and further, that if the lot being purchased for additional parking is found un- necessary, that the proceeds from the sale of this lot will be refunded to the three municipalities on the same ratio basis. The Lambton Youth Theatre group appeared at the park on the weekend for the third time this sum- mer. They have been travelling to the park for five years now.
