Championship winners.
First flight, Club
Championship finalists
are Leroy Bedour and
Brian Reeve.
Second flight finalists
are Stan Telford and
Steve Doak.
The handicap matches
in the first flight will be
between Glen Falkiner
and Paul Baechler.
Second' "flight finalists
are Bruce Lyndon and
Paul Corriveau.
George Williams has
already captured the
third flight title in both
the handicap and Club
Championship
categories.
Two ball partners Pete

winner in this category.
Members are reminded
that there will be a two
ball this Sunday Sep-
tember 3. Coffee, salad
and potatoes will be
provided as participants
are asked to bring their
own meat to be bar-
becued.
A final reminder goes
out to both the men and
ladies concerning the
number of nights that are
left for Men and Ladies'
Night attendance. There
are five nights left to
make ups your total --(A.--
twelve
`(A`-twelve nights. Even if you
now have a total of twelve
nights in attendance,
there are still a number
of activities which have
been planned for the
month of September.
Pontiacs use
sudden death
to clinch second
McGee Pontiacs edged
Canada - Company 3-1
Friday night in a sudden
death playoff game to
decide second place in the
final standings of the
Goderich Industrial
Softball league. The win
puts the Pontiacs in sole
possession of second anal
drops the Company to
third in the 10' team
league. Final standings
are used to calculate
divisional lineups for next
season and to determine
draft order for next
spring drafting of eligible
players not signed.
The Pontiacs won the
game in the second inning
with a two run rally. Russ
Pruder started things off
with a triple and scored
on Harry Kerr's double.
Kerr came over on Bill
Martin's triple before the
Company could nip the
drive.
A solo home run to lead
off the seventh inning
produced the lone Canada
Company run. Brian
Bowman drilled a shot
over the fence to start the
Company's seventh in-
ning.
Russ Pruder got on a
Company error in the
seventh and scored the
Pontiacs' third run on
another error on Martin's
hit.
Ken Daer collected the
win on a seven hitter
striking out four while
loser Stan Doherty was
touched five times ` fan-
ning nine.

Little Bowl upsets Pontiacs

Little Bowl hit through
the order in the opening
inning of their first
playoff game with McGee
Pontiacs pushing five
runs over on their way to
a 9-4 win over the Pon-
tiacs. The Bowlers
collected six hits off
Pontiac pitcher Ken Daer
and added •runs in the
second and sixth inning
for the -big win.
Mike Wildgen kicked
off the big rally with a
single and scored on Glen
Falkiner's two -run
homer. Dave Patterson
kept things going with a
single and moved down
on Bill Black's one -
bagger. Bill Chisholm
drilled a double to score
Black and "Patterson -arid
then came in on John
Crawford's single before
the Pontiacs ended the
inning.

second when he singled

Ken Vanderburg put
the Pontiacs on the board
in the third when he led

scored on a Bowler error

The Bowler bats came
alive in the sixth ac-
counting for the final
three runs. Terry Powell
slammed a double, and
Crawford walked to set

light for salt from
Kingsville and cleared
Goderich harbor the next
day for Hancock,
Michigan.
On August 21 the
Agawa Canyon arrived
light for salt from
Saginaw and cleared
Goderich harbor the
same day for Gladstone,
Michigan and Sault .Ste.
Marie.
On- August 24 - the
Agawa Canyon arrived
light for salt from
Gladstone and cleared
Goderich Harbor the next
day for Gladstone and
Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
On August .'26 the
Algosoo arrived light
(22.800) for salt from
Weller and cleared
harbor the next day for
Toledo.__.__ _
On August 19 the
Labradoc arrived from
Thunder Bay with grain
and left light from
Goderich harbor the next
day for Thunder Bay.
On August 27 the
Canadian Coast Guard
boat, Rapid returned
from Tobermory.

game with style grabbing
two runs and leaving a
third stranded. Spitzig
started the inning with a
single, moved down on a
wild pitch and scored on
Ken Meriam's single.
Ken'cDaer drilled a triple
to scab Meriam but the
Bowlers got Russ Pruder
to fly out to end the game.
John Crawford notched
the win giving up 10 hits
and striking out one.
Daer gave up 14 hits and
fanned two in the loss.

Gords beat Fisher
Gord's Sports scored
three runs in the first
inning and held on to edge
Fisher Custom Builders
3-2 in the first game of the
tearr?s playoff series in
Goderich Industrial
Softball action.
The Sports used three
two baggers in a row for
the big burst and
managed to hold the
Builders off for seven
innings for the win. Jon
Ginn chipped a single to
start the rally and scored
when Phil Petrie slam-
med a double. Dick
Schumaker drilled a two
out double to score Petrie
and Des Courtney drove
in what proved to be the
winner ..with a two
bagger.
Builder hurler Fred.
Pellow silenced the
Sports' bats for six in-
nings throwing a no hitter
for the final innings but
the Builder bats gave him
no support.
John Hoy singled with
two out in the Builders
first trip to the plate and
scored on Gerry Durst's
triple but Denis LeBrun
fanned with two down to
leave Durst at third.
In the second inning
Jack MacKinnon waited
out;a walk and used an
error to move into
scoring position for Doug
Smith's single.
The Builders left two
men on with none out in
the third and seventh
inning and couldn't
manage to score the
winner. Hoy and Durst
singled to start the third
and were still • on base
when Fred Pellow
grounded out to end the
inning. In the seventh
Wally Pierson and ,Jim
Bell both got on with none
Race set
Motocross action
returns to Hully Gully
this weekend with the
third round of the good
time Motor Cross series.
Another large and
exciting program is
promised for this Sun-
day's event, with teams
from all over Ontario
competing for valuable
points for the London
Dealers Association
trophy and $500 cash.
Individuals will be
competing for trophies
and cash on a daily basis.
Current teams stan-
dings have London in
front with 60 points with
only 18 points between the
top,six teams.
Top individual con-
tenders who will be on
hand Sunday to maintain
their lead are: school
boys, Mark Baxter from
Port Burwell, Jeff
Sutherland of Woodsiee;
Juniors,. Perry Thornton,
London; seniors, Wayne
Ryerson, Clinton; ex-
perts, AI Logue,
Hamilton.
