Memorial Hall. Everyone
met outside for an hops of

The smorgasbord
supper was served, in the
hall after which a -short
business was held.
The new chairman is

next year'spicnic is to be
held in Clinton.

Church Women was held
in St. Mark's Anglican
Church with Mrs. John
Daer in charge.

opened with all reading
the hymn, Jesus Shalt
Reign Where'er The Sun.
The scripture letson,
Psalm 107, was read by
Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell
followed by prayers by
Mrs. Lillian Leatherland.
reading, Don't Quit,
was given by Mrs.
Thomas Haggitt. Mrs.'
Robert Slater had the
topic, The Open Door. It
was an inspiring message
dealing with, life's
problems and—how to
overcome them when a
crisis conies. A reading,
Wings of Prayer, was
given by Mrs. Thomas
Haggitt and this part of
the meeting was closed
with prayer.
The ' president, Mrs.
Donald Cartwright, 'took
charge of the -business.
The minutes were ac-
cepted as read by the
secretary, Mrs. John
Daer. The treasurer,
Mrs. Thomas Haggitt,
presented the financial
statement. A thank you
note was read from Mrs.
Elmer Trommer for the
autographed towel she
had returned as a
farewell gift.
• Mrs. Robert Slater
thanked the members for
the card of
congratulations sent to
them on their silver
wedding anniversary.
The roll call was an-
swered by a Bible -verse
of choice by 12 members.
Angela Schneider
received the offering.
Plans were made for the
next meeting to be held
on September 20. The
meeting was closed with
prayer.
MEMORIAL SERVICE
The 20th annual
Memorial Service of
Hope Chapel Cemetery,
Hullett Township, was
held last Sunday' af-
ternoon with the
Reverend John Roberts
of Belgrave as guest
speaker. _.__-. _
Miss Alison Roberts of
Belgrave accompanied
on her accordion for the
singing of the hymns. The
opening hymn was Guide
Me 0 Thou Great
Jehovah and the scrip-
ture lesson was read from
St. John llth chapter.
In his inspiring
message, Mr. Roberts
pointed out that people
are bonded together with
a common bond of suf-
fering and also of
bereavement and the
Christian should react
with thankfulness and
faith. In closing, Mr.
Roberts stated that death
is the horizon of life and if
one travels in faith as far
as the horizon, one still
journeys on.
Kenneth Hunking
received the offering. The
service was _ closed with
the hymn, Breathe on Me
Breath- of God and the
benediction.
The service had been
planned by the trustees,
Harry Webster, chair-
man, Jack Lee, Lorne
Hunking, Ted Hunking,
Andrew Kirkconnell anti.
