What a face! Who could resist this puppy who looked like an offspring of
Benji, that famous dog in the movies. This little purebred Shih Taus named
Spot was one of three puppies for sale from Shelley Dow of Stratford at the
C.K.C. Sanction Match and C.D. Obedience Correction Match sponsored by
the Bluewater Kennel Club and held at the Bluewater Centre on Sunday.

Man's best friend

Man's best friend was
present in all 'shapes and
sizes at the Bluewater
Centre on Sunday helping
to make the C.K.C.
Sanction Mateh and C.D.
Obedience Correction
Match sponsored by the
Bluewater Kennel Club
such a success that the
club may consider
holding the event an,
nually at the Centre.
Organizers say, to their
knowledge, it is the first
such match to ever .be
held at a centre for the
developmentally han
dicapped in Canada.
The Bluewater Kennel
CJu.b consists of about 20
,.members - who meet
monthly in St. Mary's
Separate School in
Goderich. Fran Emer-
son, a member of the
club, works in resident
records at the Bluewater
Centre and she got her
fellow club members
interested in the Centre
and its residents. Some
Fun Days were then held
when the club members
would take their dogs to
the Centre to let the
residents pet them and
learn about -them. 'Then
the members came up
with the idea of holding
the sanction match on the
spacious grounds at the
back of the Centre. The
residents would be able to
enjoy themselves as
spectators and some
Thara, a nine -month-old Afghan hound owned by Linda Shott of Paris,
Ontario was just one,of 150 dogs to appear at the C.K.C. Sanction Match and
C.D. Correction Match sponsored by the Bluewater Kennel Club at the
Bluewater Centre on Sunday. It is the first time, say organizers, that a dog

This Great Dane took a Best of Breed award at the C.K.C. Sanction Match
and C.D. Obedience Correction Match sponsored by the Bluewater Kennel
Club and held at the Bluewater Centre on Sunday. The dog's name is Jessica
and she is owned by Heather Ruthven of Tiverton. Over 150 dogs of all

all breeds at the show

fell into six groups --
sporting dogs, sporting
dogs (hounds), working
dogs, terriers, toys and
