division championship at
the 3rd annual Listowel

The Blue Jays won the
championship with an
exciting 4-3 win Monday
over Heron Park, a
Scarborough team,
scoring the winning run
in the last half of the ninth
inning. Del Mitchelmore
scored the winning run
after he led off the inning
with a pinch hit single,
advanced to third after
Andy Moore walked and
scored when the Heron
Park ' second baseman
committed an error on
Dan Maillet's ground

an early 3-0 lead but

the third inning and two
in the sixth to tie the
score. Dennis Donnelly
was the winning pitcher
for the Jays, going the

for the championshi

remaining four innings in
his first -pitching per-
formance of the year.
Grand Ravine had
reached the semi-finals
by defeating Barrie 14-6
and Heron Park got to the
finals by beating Belle
River 6-2.

For the first time this year Goderich and area youngster r were able to par-
ticipate in organized a game in which the youngsters are able to hit the
bail off a stand. The boys' and girls' league wound up its season Tuesday night
with the final games. In the photos, front left, Nathan Pountney casts a
scrutinous eye at the position of the fielders as he prepares to hit the ball and
then shows good form as he follows through to the ball with his swing. Just as
Nathan demonstrated the tongue -out approach to idtting, teammate Kelly
MacDonald extended his tongoe as he prepared to level the ball with a mighty
M
swing. Fielding is also a big part of T -ball but Cathy -Jo Moore found the
fielding part of the game a little less to her liking and she preferred to chew on
the webbing of her glove. (Photo by Dave Sykes)
