The Goderich Pee Wees played Clinton last week and won 6 to 3. Scott Collins played fan- tasically and put 100 - percent into the game as - the rest of the team did. The All-Star team,. Lakeport Steelers, stayed in.full control at the head of the Sarnia and district pee wee soccer letague After two more victories this week, which gives them a convincing 6 and 0 record for the season. At Petrolia, the Steelers had no problem downing the Wyoming - Petrolians 7-0. Final Thursday race cancelled The third and final night of twilight racing, set to go at 6 Om tonight (Thursday) at the Clinton. Kinsmen Raceway, has been cancelled. The track, which also races on Sunday, was lo -sing several thousand dollars a week on the Thursday night operation, and it was decided last week to cancel the final night of racing, rather than lose even more. Only slightly over 600 fans turned out at each of the first two nights, betting $33,000 and $35,000 for the two nights, far below the $55,000 needed to break even. The track gets about 10 percent of the total handle, and must pay all their wages and purses out of their take: 'aa-cewarAe hair man Paul Kerrigan said the Kinsmen had wanted to try the Thursday night dates to see how well they, would • go over, but blamed the early starting time .-5:15 the first week, and 6 pm the second week as one of the prime reasons the races didn't draw crowds. The raceway cannot race at night because their isn't any lights. Sunday racing at the track, however, con- tinues to be a success with the betting and handle about the same as last year, which was the best ever in the Clinton track's eight year history. Bridge scores A. Weerasooriya and John Wood combined for a point total of 50 to grab top- spot in the July 25 meeting of the Goderich Bridge Bridge Club. There were four tables in play. The teams ,of Evelyn Gailbraith end Dawna Sproule, Mary Donnelly and Eleanor Erskine and Bill Duncan and Joe Martin all tied for second place with 46 points. THE GOriERICH SIGNAL -STAR.
