Fisher Builders won
two 'of, three league
games this week to grab
sole possession of first
place in the Maitland
Divsiion.
After losing 12-0 to
Gords Sports Thursday,
Fisher dumped Graham
Elettric 4-1 Sunday and
edged Green and Parent
2-1 Monday.
The wins boosted the
team's season record to
-frikins and 6 losses for 22
points. 1VIcGees, who
were tied with Fisher for
the lead lost their only
game of the week to
French and have two
games in hand on Fisher.
The two -hit pitching
performance of Fred
Pellow and run scoring
triples by Gerry Durst
and Wally Pierson made
the difference m -the
Fisher victory over
Graham Electric.
Fellow gave up a fourth
inning triple to Steve
Haggitt and fifth inning
single to Kernighan
across the seven innings.
He struck out 10 batters
and walked three.
Ironically neither of the
Electrics hits figured in
their runs. Steve Haggitt
scored in the second
inning on four successive
Fisher errors. That run
tied the game.
Fisher opened the
scoring in the first inning
as Jim Bell singled and
scored on Durst's triple.
They added two more
runs in the third inning as
Doug Fisher and John
Hoy scored. Fisher
walked and scored on
Hoy's double and Pierson
singled. in Hoy for the
third Fisher run.
Gerry Durst and
Pierson combined for the
fourth Fisher run in the
fifth inning as Durst
nailed a two -out single
and scored on Pierson'S
triple.
Durst, Pierson and Bell
led Fisher's offence ,with
two hits apiece. Hoy had
the other Fisher hit.
A dropped fly ball in the
first inning provided
Fisher with the two runs
in their 2-1 win over,
Green and Parent
Monday.
With two out and
runners at first and
second, Thunderbirds left
fielder Hugh Hanley
dropped a fly ball hit by
Barry Bloch, allowing
Jim Bell and Gerry Durst
to cross the plate with the
winnings runs.,
That was enough for
Fellow to work with as he
stopped the Thunderbirds
on four hits in the game
while the defence com-
plimented his efforts by
turning two double plays
in the game.
t Green and Parent
scored their only run of
the game in fourth inning
as Leh Kolkman reached
base on an error and later
scored on errors.
Jim Martin also turned
in a fine performance
stopping Fisher on four
hits while striking •out
five batters.
John Hoy was the top
Fisher batter with two
SPORTS P
hits in three trips to the
plate including a double.
Jim Bell raced home on
floys double but was
called out after missing
home plate.
Dennis Miskie, with
two singles, was the top
Thunderbird batter.
Fisher returns to action

Dick's single leads
Company to 2-1 win
A fifth inning scratch
single by Bob Dick broke
up a pitching duel bet-
ween Simon Langlois off
Ziebart and Stan Doherty
of Canada Company and
boosted -the Company into
a 2-1 victory Monday.
Both pitchers fashioned
four -hitters in the contest
and both gave up a home
run ball. But Canada
Company was able to put
two hits together in the
fifth inning and the two -
run cushion was all that
Doherty needed to wrap
up the win.
Canada Company
opened the scoring in the
game as Glen ,Tigert
drilled a solo home run
Off Langlois .in the first
inning with one
out_Langlois quickly got
two strikes on Tigert who
then fouled off several
pitches before hooking a
shot just inside the left
field foul pole.
That one -run lead held
until the top of the fifth
inning when Bill Durst
scored the winning run.
With two out Durst
slapped a single to left
field and went to second
on a passed ball. Dick
then hit the ball between
the hole at first and
second and Durst raced
home as the throw from
right field was wide of the
plate.
Ziebart got back in the
game in the bottom of the
fifth when Dan Duncan
hit a towering home run
off a Doherty
k-nuckleball. Doherty
then struck out the side in
the fifth and retired the
last six batters he faced
in order.
Mike Donnelly. Tigert.
Durst and Dick had the
Company hits. Al
Sygrove was the game's
top batter with two hits,
both of them bunt singles.
Ray Volland and Duncan
had the other Ziebart
hits.
The win was the 12th of
the season for Canada
Company and they
remain tied with French
for the Dunlop Division
lead with 24 points.
Ziebart trails the two
teams by six points in
that division.
