There's a lot of talent in this town and pearpie should get behind it and give it their full support._ The abundance of talent was much in evidence last Wednesday evening when the Goderich Little Theatre staged their ---first summer production of the seasonin a perfect outdoors, setting - the Huron Historic Gaol yard. "Shock of His Life'', a comical one -act play written m qua» 49 d...directed.by-Anna_.. Melski of the GLT, is only the first of eight one - act plays to be presented by the G -LT group over the, next six weeks. The plays will be held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 8 p.rn. in the jail yard and on Friday evenings at Point Farms Provincial Park also at 8 p.m. "Shock of His Life" is the story of a man, somewhat conceited about his physical fitness and virility, who reads a misleading note left near the phone by his son and jumps to the conclusion that he has only minutes to live. The frantically funny man was played by Arie Van der Ende, no stranger to GLT audiences after his debut in two winter productions this year, His son Wilbur was played by his real son, Allan Van der Ende who puts lots of enthusiasm into his role. Allan seems to be a natural on stage. His lines just roll offhim. Three other young people also appeared in the pEay' Tlfey were Scott Collins as Hercules, Sharon Markson as Connie and Doreen Markson as Mary Lou. It's refreshing to see young people on stage and Mrs. Melski, co-ordinator of Theatre Summed' '78, says one of the ideas behind the program is to get more young people involved in this type of thing. Joyce Kuran, another familiar face to GLT audiences, as the "dying" man's wife, com- pleted the cast of this play. Prior to the play, mime artist Rob McEwen performed a hilarious pantomime on the frustrations of a golfer which every golfer and even non -golfer could relate to. Rob is directing this week's play entitled French Toast. Why not slip over to the jail tonight at 8 p.m. to view it? Earl Salter also sang four songs ac- companyinghimself on the guitar prior to last week's play. Three young ladies will be running the summer book lending service in various camps, parks•a-nd communities in Huron throughout the summer months. The three ladies, Joan Coulter, , Marion Doucette and Susan Irvin towns across the County. Joan set up"the program during the month of June and on Monday the ladies set out . with their travelling library. On Mondays the girls will visit Vanastra, the Falls, Kitchigami and ijuron,Cliffs Park and on 'Tuesday they will visit Pine Lake Camp. On Wednesday they will be at Elliott's Beach Bar, Kintail Store, MacKenzie are working for the Camp and the Port Albert library for the library on Store. Thursday they will an Experience 78 grant!
