Land availability, to be advertised in Montreal Star for six days
BY JOANNE WALTERS
Huron CouptY Cpuncii has aceepted a
recommendation from the Development
Committee that Development Officer, Spence
Cummings be authorized to insert a two -
column classified advertisement in mid-
orry
about, -that!
• Due to a large volume of news this
week, some stories have been held over
until the next edition of the Goderich
Signal -Star. Thankyou for your
patience.
September, 1978 for six-conSecutive days in the
Montreal Star Newspaper, total east not to
exceed $655, The purpose of this advertising is
to try and, attract industry to various locations
in Huron County.
In a report of the Development Committee
submitted by, chairman William'Elston at the
Huron County Council meeting on June 30, it
-was staled that for some communities, ad-
vertiSing industrial locations has been a major
source of theirPeriquiries and that throegjatc,44:7-1
-coir funds- in the past, the Developmefil--Cionv-'=
mittee has not been asked to approve figs tYpe'
of newspaper advertising.
Several members of council ,expressed
concern that the time wasn't right for ,ad-
vertising in Quebec and felt that it would only
stir up trouble. Others said that it was a known
fact that some -Quebec industries were trying to
relocate and it would be foolish to ignore this
fact. It was also pointed out that the Montreal
Star was a Canadian newspaper ,and not just
provincial.

Colborne's
Plan approved
Huron County Council approved Colborne
Township's Secondary Plan last Friday so that
the township would be eligible for an extension
of the -Community Planning Study grant of
$2,500 until. September 30. The Minister of
Housing has warned that if the plan is not ap-
proved and _submitted in final form by that
time„the gr6nt will be cancelled "without
further nottide,."
Colborne Township Reeve Doug McNeil told
county. council that Colborne Township is in
favor of the Secondary Plan and wants to move
it along. •
"We had a lot of objections to begin with and.
have tapered them off to one," he said. "One
owner wants his land zoned commercial but has
never presented a written report of his in-
