• Some time ago the
Huron -Perth Presbytery
requested North Street
United Church ladies to
hand-knit string ban-
dages for African leprosy
patients. On endeavoring
to obtain particulars
re proper strength of
material, the A.B. Mutch
Distributing Co. of
Toronto sent a very
generous supply of the
necessary string, all free
of charge.
Goderich United
Church Women, and their
friends affiliated with
other district churches, in
spare time have been
constantly knitting in
order to have the finished
products delivered as
soon as possible, and,
,• some of the ladies at
Huronview joined in this
pleasant pastime pur-
pose.
It is intriguing to know
just how words get
around to distant places
as one' of Toronto's De
Havilland Aircraft
Company's Executives,
before his soon
retirement.. offered to
deliver the first two large
cases to destination. '
Since that time six
cartons were made ready
and Bruce Sully and
Bruno Lapaine of
Champion Road
Machinery Ltd. have
very graciously arranged
for delivery to the
designated address,
detailed by Doctor Betty
Bridgman, for Kinshasa,
Republic of Zaire.
Many town -folk .will
recall meeting and
hearing Dr. Bridgman
tell about some of her
experiences during the
political unrest in Angola,
when she visited ,,her
friends in Goderich, the
Misses Ida and Clare
McGowan, last
November.
It is now reported that
Dr. Bridgman will be
returning to Africa the
end of July, to resume her
duties, stationed this time
in Zaire.
For those who may not
be cognizant of the
ha'ndknitted string
bandages' usefulness,
they are wound around
the affected parts of the
body, over the usual
sterilized bandages and
allow afflicted victims of
this dreaded disease,
more freedom of
movement with less
discomfort.
•
These firmly knitted
string bandages can be
washed; sterilized and
applied repeatedly until
the material is worn out.
All during the past
months the knitters have
appreciated, very much,
the thoughtful co-
operation of Mr. and Mrs.
Ed Stiles in making their
excellent facilities
available for the
distribution of this large
supply, receiving of the
finished products - and,
the packing, etc - right to
the last moment.
The North Street
Church ladies would like
to gratefully, sincerely
and whole-heartedly
thank the kind friends
who have had a part of
any kind, in the suc-
cessful fulfillment of this
very worthwhile work. .

NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE
A couple of months or so ago, I bought a
car for cash, which was a private sale. This
car has been nothing but a he.adache ever
since. It's once again in the garage, and my
mechanic tells me, that the mileage has
been altered.
I've managed to get hold of the former
owner, but he strongly denies this. I feel
that 1 have been taken...what can I do?
Unless you can obtain a service receipt
from some place where this car had work
done and it showed a higher mileage than
when you bought it, then there's nothing
that you can do, to our knowledge.

While on vacation in the States, I became
suddenly very ill necessitating emergency
hospital treatment.
paid their itemized bill by cheque ex-
pecting to be reimbursed by OH I P when I
returned to Canada, however time goes by
and all I keep getting is the run-around from
OH I P as they refuse to accept my hospital
receipt or cancelled cheque as proof of
payment.
I don't know why but they insist on me
sending a signed statement by the doctor
who attended me in the hospital. I've
written this hospital three times now with
this request but have been completely
ignored.
We have no explanation for the long 'delay
in you getting the necessary signed
statement from the hospital, but we have
been assured that it has finally been mailed
to you.

It costs me $240.00 to live in a two
bedroom apartment where the carpets are
dirty and the walls a mess. Also, I had no
hot water for quite a while plus the time
couldn't park in our underground garage
because of repairs which seemed to take
forever and a day, and to top it off there is
no street parking in this area.
When the building manager was con-
tacted he was less than pleased, about the
allegations concerning the walls and car-
pets. According to him the carpets are all in
excellent shape and the walls were
professionally cleaned last October.
He strongly accuses you of being very
Hyperbolic (exaggerating excessively) and
he apparently intends to continue to ignore
your "unfounded complaints".
