Over 100 children have
registered for softball in
the township this year.
Our schedule with four
other townships started
this past week with mixed
results.
The Mixed Tykes,
under the coaching of Art
Bell and Jim Drehmann,
lost their first game to
Auburn Wednesday.
Varna defeated our Pee
Wee girls Tuesday night.
The girls are coached by
Ken Harris and Karen
T ndall.
Kathy Schoemaker and David Fisher were honored
as the top female and male athlete of Colborne
Central School at awards night Tuesday. The
trophies, donated by Dave Gower, were presented
by physical education instructor Clare Harmon.

Bantams,, split with Seaforth
The Goderich Ban-

Seaforth last week losing
the first game 15-7 in
Goderich and then
winning the return match
12-5 in Seaforth.
Goderich spotted
Seaforthfive runs in the
top half of the first inning
in the garpe in Goderich
last week and promptly
tied the game with a five
run rally in their half of
the first. Bob Graham,
Dave Gallow, Mike
Paquette, Dan Durst and
Chris Pitre 'scored runs
for Goderich.
But Seaforth took
control of the game
scoring two runs in the
second inning and five in
the third to take a
commanding lead.
Goderich was only able to
reply with single runs in
the fourth and fifth in-
nings. Pitre and Mike
Chisholm scored the
other Goderich runs.
Goderich earned a split
in the series with a 12-5
victory in a league game

Graham Electric took
advantage of wild pit-
ching and defensive
lapses on the part of
Green and Parent as they
routed the Thunderbirds
7-2 in Industrial League
action Sunday.
Graham Electric
capitalized on three
Thunderbird errors and
six walks issued by losing
pitcher Glen Ferguson as
they produced seven runs
on a meagre four -hit
attack.
The Electrics opened
the scoring in the first
inning as Bruce Bowman
and John Hoy both scored
runs on errors. The
Electrics then added
their final five runs in the
fifth inning on two walks,
three hits and an error.
Mark Frayne was the
top Electric batsman
with two hits in two trips
to the plate. Steve
Haggitt and John Hoy
had the other hits.
While Graham Electric
scored seven runs on four
hits, the Thunderbirds
scored two runs despite
the fact that John Verway
threw a no-hitter:

scored a single run in the
fourth inning as Len
Kolkman walked and
'scored on two successive
errors. They added a
second run in the fifth
inning on another error.
The win was the third of
the season for Graham
Electric against nine
losses while the Green
and Parent record stands
at two wins and eight
losses.

fourth inning. many due
to walks, and held an 8-.2
lead after four innings.
The Bantams added a
single run in the fifth, two
in the sixth and scored

of the, seventh. Kevin
Adams hit a hurtle run for
Goderich in the sixth
inning.

our Midget girls. They
play on Tuesday nights
too, and lost their first
game to Hullett "A".
Monday nights see our
boys in action. The Pee
Wees are coached by "A."
Art and Jim $ell and the
"B" Bill Harris and Dave
King. They played
against each other and
the "B" 's were vic-
torious.
Del Scholendorf is
heading up our Midget
"A" boys while Don Duff
is looking after the "B"
midget boys. Del's team
defeated Stanley last
Monday while Benmiller
"B" beat Don's "8"
team. .
Many thanks to some
sponsors in the township
who donated sweaters to
four of our teams. The
sweaters are green and
white and look quite
sharp.
Ed Johnston and our
over 18 'boys from the •
township are playing in
the Clinton Industrial
League. They too are
sporting new sweaters.
Midgetgirls keep
wan streak calve
The Goderich Midget
girls softball team kep
their win streak alive
with two victories in
league play last week.
The midgets won five
straight league games
and added to that list with
a 6-2 victory over Rostock
in Goderich and a 22-7 win
over Shakespeare in
Shakespeare, Sunday.
In their first win,
Goderich scored single
runs in the second and
fourth innings and added
two in both the fifth and
sixth innings. Sandra
Rowe led the Goderich
offense scoring two runs
while Heidi Elliott, Jenny,
More, Dori Oke and
Laurie Nurse scored
singles.

home run.
Elliott picked up the
victory in the second
game and held
t Shakespeare off the
scoresheet until the
fourth inning when they
struck for three runs.
They added two in the
fifth inning and singles in

the sixth and seventh.
The girls return to
action Tuesday against
Tavistock at Agriculture
park at 7 p.m. and Friday
July 7 they will play in
kirkton.

Sailing Club has been
invited to participate in
the Canada Day
celebrations taking place
in Kincardine. The
lncardrie Yacht Club is
holding its first annual
Invitational Regatta, and
members of the G.S.C.
who Would like to sail up
to Kincardine either
Friday evening or
Saturday morning are
invited to come along and
join in the fun.
