(Photo by Joanne Walters) Families prepare for Witness convention A number of families from the Goderich area are finalizing preparations to attend the "Victorious Faith" international convention of Jehovah's Witnesses at Montreal's Olympic Park, `Tuly 5 to 9. Con- vention officials now expect more than 90,000 persons to attend. "It is a family.affair," said Witness spokesman Ralph Brodie, noting that many have taken a week of their summer vacation to attend. MR. AND MRS. M.T. NESBITT • Spring nuptials Kathryn Ann Bremner and Maurice Thomas Nesbitt, both of London were united in marriage on May 27, at 4 p.m. in a °° pretty summer wedding amid baskets of white gladioli, pink and blue carnations and daisies, on the lawn of the bride's parents; Bob and Isabelle Bremner of Ethel.' Parents of the groom are George and Florence Nesbitt of Clinton. Rev. Stan MacDonalcj, cousin of the bride, of- ficiated at a double ring ceremony. Mrs Lynn Hamilton of Listowel, accompanied on the guitar by her husband Doug, sang Exodus as the bride's mother was 'usheredin by Murray Nesbitt, of Auburn, brother of the groom; "You'll never walk Alone" and "Let Love Lead You" during the signing of the register. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride looked lovely in an ivory Jersey gown featuring a tiered skirt, blouson top and elbow -length sleeves. Her gown was accented with an ivory picture hat and matching ribbon. She carried a bouquet of pink rose buds daisies and baby's breath. Nancy McMillan of Toronto, friend of the bride, was her only at- tendant wearing a pink floral gown identical to the bride's with a pirk picture hat and ribbon. Brian Jewitt, .of Newmarket, friend of the groom, was best man and Mark Kitching of Stratford, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer. Following a dinner at the Bremner. home, a reception was held at the Brussels Legion Hall. The mother of the groom, who greeted the guests was wearing a jade green sleeveless gown with matching cape and a coral orchid corsage. She was assisted by the groom's mother, who wore la deep rose gown with cape' sleeves and a corsage of white car- nations. Following a trip to Niagara Falls, the couple will reside -in London. Prior 'to the wedding, the bride was'honoured at several showers given by Leah Harrington and nursing classmates in London; Nancy McMillan and friends of Listowel; Olda Jerves and relatives in Clinton; the Ethel Community, Ruth Earl and relatives in Atwood; and Jack and Pat Armstrong at a couples' shower in Clinton. The con- vention program will stress the value of faith in the Bible as Christians face these issues and other daily problems of life." The climax of the assembly will be the public lecture, "Jesus Christ -- Victorious King With Whom Nations Must Reckon". This lecture will be given in seven languages. Families from this area will be among 2,000,000 who will hear the same program in 64 countries. The"Montreal convention will be the largest of 24 like gatherings to be held in North America this year. Special speaker at UCW The June meeting of the Victoria Street Church U.C.W. was held at the church with Benmiller ladies as the guests. Unit . 3 was . in charge of the meeting. The guest speaker was Mrs. Margaret Williams, wife of the late Reverend D. W. Williams who served Victoria Street - congregation from 1950- 1955. She spoke on the power of prayer and read several passages from the gospel of St. Matthew. She asked those present to read Matthew and try to relate Jesus' teaching to our modern life style. a Lunch was served and a social time was enjoyed recalling fond memories. Terry Crowley G ODERICH London 524=9875 roproeenting fr Life URCH P Mrs. Ellen McClure Former Colborne ladydies Mrs. E!len McClure of on Huron -view and formerly of Colborne Township died in Huronview on Thursday, June 15 at the age of 89. She was horn near Seaforth on August 13, 1888 to Mary (Carter) and George Henderson. She lived near Seaforth until McClure at which time she moved to Hullett Township and then to. Colborne Township in 1918. Russell McClure November 2, 1973. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs, Florence Sowerby of Stratford and Mrs. Myrtle Glazier of Clinton; nine grand- children and 23 great- grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 17 at 3:30 p.m. at Stiles Funeral Horne. The Reverend John D. M. Wood officiated. Interment was in Colborne Cemetery.
