Congratulations to Bobby Austin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Austin who won the senior boys honours in the Zone. Other schools taking part were St. Mary's, Goderich; St. Joseph's, Clinton and St. Heart, Wingham. Willy Hendriks and Denise Connelly were runners-up in their. division. SQCIAL NEWS Mr. Frank Lefevre of Ashford, Kent arrived in Canada on Friday to spend six weeks with his daughter Jill and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thomson, Richard, Peter, Robbie and Chris. Mrs. Mel Bell of Goderich and Mrs. Jas. McFadgen of Guelph called on Mel Jones on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Marsh of Auburn arid Miss Betty Marsh of Burlington, called in on Sunday. Mrs. Jack Caesar is in University Hospital in London where she had surgery last Wednesday. Gwen hopes to get home this week. Mr. Marvin Durnin suffered an impact fracture of his hip in a fall last week and is also in University Hospital. Mrs. W.A. Stewart is staying with Mrs. Durnin while Marvin is hospitalized. Mrs. Graham McNee was guest of • the Wingham W.I. on Thursday and brought greetings from the district in her role as District President. She proposed a toast to the Wingham Branch on the occasion of their 75th anniversary and presented life mem- berships to two of their members. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Phillips on the birth of a baby daughter, Anita Suzanne, on Monday, June ', 1978, at St. Joseph's Hospital in London, a little sister for Andy and Jason. Mrs. Cecil Blake, Mrs. Elmer Black and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McWhinney enjoyed the Huron County Historical Society bus trip on Wednesday to Elmira, Elora and Milton. At Milton they saw the Ontario Agricultural Museum which has recently opened and is in the process of expanding with Bob Carbi"tt as manager. The Reverend C.G., and Mrs., Westhaver and the other .. members of their family attended the wedding of their daughter.. Miss Carol Westhaver of Toronto visited her parents on the weekend after her sister's wed- ding. Mrs. Iris Sampson and Mrs. Gladys Rivett of Goderich called on Mr. and Mrs. Howard God- frey on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Errington were to Clinton on Friday to see Evelyn's sister, Mrs. Melinda Nivins, who broke a small bone in her wrist. She is staying with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Caldwell. Mr. and Mrs. Allan McNee and boys spent part of the weekend at their cottage at Cedar Beach and called on Mr. and Mrs. Graham McNee and Mrs. Ross McNee on Sunday." Mrs. Ross McNee returned to the home of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Graham McNee on Friday from Goderich hospital where she had spent the past few weeks since breaking her pelvis in a fall. She is able to get around in a wheelchair or with the aid of a walker. Miss Marilyn Clark of Kitchener visited with Mr. and Mrs. K.K. Dawson on the weekend. Sympathy is extended to the family- of the late Mrs. Esther Rivett who died very suddenly at her home in Goderich on Friday. The funeral was held at Stiles Funeral Home on Monday at 2 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. James Schultz, Andrew, Douglas and Amy oi'' Mississauga called on their cousin, Mrs. Mary Bere on Sunday. Kathie and John Stanbury of Goderich, Annette Hodges and Gerry Bere, visited Mrs: Mary Bere. and Jamie on Sunday. Last weekend Mrs. Elsie Irvin accompanied Mrs. Olive Kennedy on a bus tour from Wingham to Scott's Oquaga Lake House, New York State and enjoyed the four days of planned activities put on by the Scott Family. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stirling and family of Thamesville visited Betty's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Irvin on the weekend. Some of the recent newcomers to the village are Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith and family, for- merly of Goderich who have moved into the house at the south end of Main Street in Wawanosh Township; Mr. and Mrs. Buchanon and two foster children who have bought the mobile home at the south end of Main Street in Ashfield Township; and Mr. and Mrs. Terry, Noble (nee Pat McGee) and family who have bought the former Wilbur property on Joseph Street East. Awards will be presented to the Sunday School on this final session of Sunday School for this season. Additional camp folders for Camp Menesetung are available from the minister. These have on them the registration form for those planning to go to camp this summer. The week following Sunday, June 18, has been set aside by the Province of Ontario as Senior Citizen's Week. The 100th Anniversary of the Londesboro manse will be observed with "Open House" an Wednesday, June 28, afternoon and evening. DUNGANNON CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP Marshall and Helen Lawrknce conducted an evening service in which they told„of their linguist tic work under Wycliffe Bible Translattprs, and some of their experiences in Papua, New Guinea. The church group is planning a camp -out next weekend at Point Farms Park. This will include fireside singing and talks, a Sunday School picnic on Saturday afternoon, scavenger and treasure hunts and other activities to make for an interesting weekend camping. There will also be presentations of awards to those in the Children's Bible Club who were top winners in their Bible memory work. The outing will end sometime Sunday afternoon after S.S. and church services and.a final meal together as a church group. Celebrates 35 years as priest Reverend Father Edward J. Dentinger C.R., celebrated his 35th anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood on Monday, June 12. Father Den- tinger, a native of For- mosa, received his high school education at St. Jerome's College, Kit- chener. His . ,seminary training was at University in London and he graduated with a degree in •Honours Philosophy. He was or- dained in June of 1943. He became pastor of St. Joseph's Parish, Kingsbridge, St., Augustine and St. Mary's, Lucknow Roman Catholic churches in July. 1972. Mrs. Eldon Austin was - admitted to the Alexandra Marine ' and General, Hospital, Goderich on Monday, June 12. Her many friends wish her a speedy recovery. Mrs. Gordon Congram of Ashfield Township joined with 42 others on a four day bus tour to Oquaga Lake House Resort in New York State. They left Goderich on Friday morning, June 9 returning home on. Monday night, June 12. A very enjoyable trip was had by all. Students attending high schools ,in Wingham and Goderich with no exams to write started summer holidays on Wednesday, June 14. Birthday celebrations were held in St. Joseph's Parish Hall, Kingsbridge on Wednesday afternoon, June 14 honoured Brother Carl Voll; Leo Rosinke, John O'Connor, Frank Sullivan, Bernardine Kinney and Mary Frayne. An afternoon of cards was enjoyed. The high winners were John O'Connor and 'Mary Frayne. Birthday cards, and gifts were presented to each of the celebrants. Birthday cake, cookies and ice cream were served by members of the Kingsbridge Catholic Women's League. A social hour followed. Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Vogt and daughter Julie visited with relatives in Southfield, Michigan last weekend and while there attended the wedding of Mrs. Vogt's nephew, Mr. James Zrembski to Sandy Royek at St. Mel's Church, Southfield, Michigan on Saturday, June 10.
