She was born March 27, 1911. in Port Albert to Francis and Mary Ann (McCullough) Willis. She was a member of Christ Church, Port Albert and a member of the Ladies' Guild of Christ Church. She is survived by her husband, Elton Draper; one sister, Mrs. Wilbur (Lina) Stewart of London and two brothers, Harry Willis of Teeswater and Verne Willis of Goderich. She was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Earl (Olive) McDonald. A funeral service was held at McCallum Funeral Home in Goderich on Monday, June 19 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Robert J. Crocker officiated. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, Port Albert. Pallbearers were Leroy Draper, Elmer Draper, Wayne Draper, Brian Draper, George Fritzley and Ron Frit- zley. Flower bearers were Jim Fielder, Arnold Meader and Ron Meader. Buried at Maitland Mrs. Esther (Johnston) Rivett of 202 Bayfield Road, Goderich died suddenly at her residence on Friday, June 16. She was born on November 19, 1901 to Mary (Bell) and James Johnston in Ethelbert, Manitoba.She was raised in Wilkie, Saskatchewan and married John Henry Rivett there on December 15, 1920. She lived in Wilkie until moving to. Ashfield Township in 1932. She moved to Goderich in J968. She was a member of Goderich Rebekah Lodge No: 89 and was president of the Golden Gate Club of Goderich. She was very active in the `work of the U.C.W. of Victoria Street United Church where she was a mem- ber. She was predeceased by her husband on March 25, 1978. She was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Irene. Surviving her are one daughter, Mrs. John (Edna) Wilson of Scar- borough; six sons, Elliot and William of Goderich, Ivan of Dungannon, Norman of Ripley and Earl and Ross of Squamish, B.C.; one sister, Mrs. Clair (Eunice) Finnigan of Victoria, B.C.; four brothers, Silas and Elmer Johnston of Saskatoon; Albert Johnston of Oliver, B.C. and William• Johnston of Wilkie, and 16 grandchildren. A funeral'service was held at Stiles Funeral Home on Monday, June 19 at 2 p.m. The Reverend John D. M. Wood of- ficiated. Interment was in Maitland Cemetery. Pallbearers were the late Mrs. Rivett's six sons, Elliot, William, Ivai1, Norman, Earl and Ross. Goderich Rebekah Lodge No. 89 held a service 'at the funeral home on Sunday, June 18 at 7 p.m. brains main topic 'Drains appeared to be the main ;topic of discussion at' the regular session of the the West Wawanosh Township Council on Tuesday, June 6. Mr. Glenn McConnell was present and asked council to repair a road drain which is causing problems at the corner of his lot at St. Augustine. Council requested the road superintendent •to take charge of the necessary work regar- ding this. :1w.o• Police Village trustees *ere present to ask council about drainage and' finances connected with Auburn. No motions were recorded regarding this. The owners on the Reid Drain, who were present at the council meeting, discussed the drain cleanout and repair with council members and the drainage superintendent. A motion was then passed by counieil that, West Wawanosh Township proceed to have the Reid Drain cleaned out and repaired. Morley )Johnston questioned council about the Drainage Tribunal hearing on the Smyth Municipal Drain. Council passed a motion that permission be granted to Ross Durnin to install a cluvert on the Murray Drain on his property. Two applications for loans for tile drainage submitted by W, 'Beyersbergen and R. Pentland, were accepted by council. The St. Helen Cemetery Committee brought . its report to council. The committee requests that for this year, the town- ship keep the cemetery ground worked for the summer months and in the fall have it seeded to a good lawn mixture. Council granted building permits to .Leonard Vodden. (for a mobile unit workshop) ; Albert Plasschaert (sow barn) ; John Shelter (house addition, office and planning space) ; Dennis Schultz (house addition) ; Ross Errington (storage shed) ; • Grant Chisholm ,(house addition) ; Mose Shelter (house addition); Neil Stapleton (silo) ; Wm. Beyersbergen (pole barn) ; and G.H. Brindley (auction barn). A report from the Ministry of the Environment on the West Wawanosh Waste Disposal Site was read by the township clerk to council members. Sykes) Virginia Riehl, (photo by Dave • Mrs. Helen Smith Funeral at St. Peter's Mrs. Helen Smith, formerly of Goderich and Colborne Township died in Huronview on Saturday, June 17 at the age of 75. She was born on March 4, 1903 to John and Mary (Carney) Chisholm. She married Wilfred L. Smith who predeceased her. She was i also predeceased by 'four brothers, John, Thomas, Joseph and the Reverend Harry Chisholm. She was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Goderich. She is survived by three daughters, . Mrs. Fred (Mary) Crawford of Ash- field Township, Mrs. Ralph (Audrey) Bor- schke of Leamington and Mrs. Jack (Pauline) M'"liek of Godprir•h• nor, son, John W, Smith of London; one sister, Mrs. Albert (Beatrice) McGee of Goderich; one brother, Ben Chisholm of Goderich; and 18 gran- dchildren. Prayers were said for the late Mrs. Smith at McCallum Funeral Horne on Monday evening, June 19. A funeral mass was held at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 20 at 11 a.m. The Reverend Father A.F. Loebach officiated. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery in Colborne Township. Pallbearers were Bill Smith, Mark Smith, Bruce Melick, Gus Borschke, Ralph Bor- sehke, and John Crawford. Woinan buried Mrs. Grace Evans of 175 J -ones Street - in Goderich died in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Thursday June 15 at. the age of 71. She was born in Toronto on September 19, 1906 to William and Annie Wright. She lived in Toronto until her marriage there on August 15, 1934 to Leslie'" C. Evans. Following her marriage, she lived in New Liskeard until coming to Goderich in 1969. She was a member of the Golden Gate Club of Goderich and a member of St. George's Anglican Church. She was predeceased by her only son, George Richard Evans of Hun- tsville in 1975. She is survived by her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Kathleen) Harvey and Mrs. Charles (Lillian) Taylor both of Toronto;'three brothers, William and J ck Wright and Harry Hogan. of Toronto; and one grandson, Tod Leslie Evans. • A funeral service was held at Stiles Funeral Horne on Saturday, 'June 17 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Robert J.
