Elroy Treit, New Westminster, British Columbia, President of Lutheran Church -Canada; and, Dr. Ralph Bohlmann, President of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Bohlmann as convention essayist, discussed the Lutheran 4 - Church -Missouri Synod dilemma - the tension between the con- fessionally narrow conscience and . the ecumenically broad heart. He reminded the convention that the church is an assembly of "only people who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour". That's Biblical, said Dr. Bohlmann. "The church is God's creation. There is only one church. We are already one." Dr. Bohlmann said it is "because we are one with all other Christians" that Missouri Synod Lutherans are concerned about the theological differences between denominations. "Many people define the church as they would any other organization," said Dr. Bohlmann. "But it is a spiritual thing. And it is already there."
