The Maple Leaf Chapter, I.O.D.E. honored their past Regents at
a pot luck supper on Tuesday evening, June 6. Top row, left to
right, are Mrs. W. McKellar (1972-73), Mrs. G.L. Royal (1976-77',
Mrs. A.M. Harper (1964-65), Mrs. J. Stringer (1970-71) and Mrs.
B. Ainslie (1968-69). Middle row, left to right, are Mrs. J. Kinkead
(1950-51), Mrs. G. Ellis (1958-59), Mrs. R. McGee (1974-75), Mrs.
R. Hughes (1956-57) and Mrs. C. Edward (1060-61). Front
left to right, are Mrs. J. Wallace (1962-63), Mrs. D.'Mooney (1940-
43)-, Mrs. H. Ford (1948-4.9), Mrs. J. Sully (1952-53) and Mrs. R.

Past Regents honored
by I,O.D.E. members.
Forty members and
four guests of Maple Leaf
Chapter I.O.D.E. enjoyed
a bountiful supper at the
home of Mrs. N. McHolm
on Tuesday, June Q.
Fifteen Past Regents
were the honored guests.
Each was presented with
a corsage made by Mrs.
J. Morrissey. A history of
the Chapter was read by
Mrs. R. Patterson. Mrs.
H. Murphy, convener of
this special evening,
presented the Chapter
with a plaque that will be
engraved with each Past
Regents name and years
of office.
Mrs. W. Garrow,'
•Regent, presided for the
business. She expressed
her appreciation to Mrs'.
Murphy and also to,Mrs.
R. Robertson and Mrs. P.
King who organized the
excellent supper.
The members agreed to
have a. hospitality table at
the Court House Square
on J,une 29.
Mrs, R. McCallum,
Education Secretary,
announced that the essay
winners are Tina
Bruinsma for Grade far and 4;. Helen..Conion for
Grades 5 a.nd 6; and Kate
Doorly for Grades 7 and
8. .
Mrs. W. Stanbury,
Membership Secretary,
asked Mrs. D.D. Mooney,
who has been an I.O.D.E.
for 51 years, to present 25
year pins .to Mrs. M.
McGill and Mrs. F. Sch-
midt.
Ways and Means
Convener, Mrs. J.
McIntyre, announced
that tickets are available
for the Fashion Show to
be held Sunday, Sep-
tember 1'7 and Monday,
September 18 at Ben -
miller Inn.
The September
,meeting is to be held at
the home of Mrs. M.
Rayner, 200 Cameron
Street.
Mrs. 3.L. Royal ex-
pressed the appreciation
of the Past Regents to
Mrs. Murphy for a
delightful evening and
Mrs. 3. Sully thanked
everyone on behalf of the
guests present.
Mrs. D. Aberhart
thanked Mrs. McHolm
for opening her home for
the meeting.
Mrs. Garrow closed
with "God Bless Our
Queen and Canada."

Goderich Branch of the
Women's •Institute. Mrs.
G. Taylor was at the
piano. Twenty-four
members answered the
roll call --My Favorite
Hobby.
Miss K. McPherson
reported visiting and
touring the Group Home
on Keays Street when
Open House was held in
May.
Mrs. D. Riehl read the
minutes of the last
meeting, the treasurer's
report and corn-
munications. A thank you
note was received from
Mrs. H. Talmay. An
invitation was also
received for the
Wingham W.I.'s 75th
anniversary on Wed-
nesday, June 15 at 12:30.
Mrs. G. Taylor was
appointed Curator due to
the resignation of Mrs. H.
Talmay.
Cook books will soon be
available for sale.

Mrs. Shirley Keller,
editor . of the Goderich
Signal -Star, as guest
speaker. Mrs. Keller said
that W.I. has had an avid
interest in agriculture for
home and country. She
—made mention in her talk
of Adelaide Hoodless and
Erland Lee Home.
Speaking on retirement,
she said each one
reaching that age should
he encouraged to take up
some hobby to help
overcome the adjustment
to a different way'of:life.
The basic rule of W.I. is to
help others.
Many handcrafts made
by Mrs. Cook were on
display and she told the
members how to do most
of them.
The meeting closed
with the National Anthem
and the W.I. Grace. Mrs.
M. Mackenzie and
hostesses served lunch,

directors and officers,
discussed resolutions to
the Federation Annual
Meeting and discussed
current issues in
education such as
declining enrolment.
