Langlois pitches and hits
Ziebart tofirst league win
BY DAVE SYKES
Ziebart pitcher Simon
Langlois was tired of
losing ball games.
So the Ziebart hurler
took it upon himself to lift
his team from a five
game losing streak.
Langlois was deter-
mined in his efforts as he
stopped Graham Electric
on four hits and enjoyed a
three for four evening at
the plate including a
triple, and scored three
runs to lift his team to a 7-
2 win in Industrial Leage
action, Sunday.
The win was the first of
the campaign for Ziebart
after losing their first five
starts.
The loss was also
exasperating for Graham
Electric as they dropped
three games last week
and their record fell to a
dismall one win in seven
games. The two teams
are now tied with two
points each in the Dunlop
Division.
Langlois broke open a
scoreless game in the top
of the third inning as he
boomed a triple to right
field and scored on a
throwing error by right
fielder Mark Frayne.
While he was keeping
Graham Electric off the
bases Langlois again
initiated his clubs offence
with a lead-off single in
the four -run sixth inning.
Ray Volland and Dave
and Jim Mclvor also
scored runs in the sixth
inning.
Ziebart added two
more runs in the seventh
inning as Wayne Doak
and Langlois scored.
The Electrics got to
Lanilois for only four hits
in the game blit managed
to put two together for a
run in the fifth inning.
Langlois held Graham
Electric hitless until the.
lead off single by Dave
Piltman in the fifth in-
ning. Piltman then scored
on a double by. Fraser
Strong.
Strong got to Langlois
again in the seventh
inning smacking a triple
that scored Bill Wraith
who had reached base on
an error.
Langlois had three of
the Ziebart seven hits
while team-mate Ron
Whetstone chipped in
with two hits including a
run -scoring triple in the
sixth inning.
Langlois gave up only
four hitsin the victory
and struck out 14 batters.
John Verway took the
loss.
Ziebart returns to
action tonight against
Canada Company at 7.15
p.m.
