ravages, of winter, the
planting of a tree and the
raising of a new Canadian
flag.
The new tree, a Linden
Tree was donated to the
school by, Mrs. Jack
(Bernardine) Kinney of
the Kingsbridge area and
planted in memory of her

Norman O'Loughlin of

Mrs. Kinney addressed
the students telling them
how Arbour Day was,
started. Did you 'know
that the first Arbour Day
was celebrated on the
first Friday in May, 1872 -
Our thanks are deeply
expressed to Mrs. Kin-
ney. After the flag raising
ceremony, visitors and
students were treated to
cakes and freshie by Mrs.
Eedy and Mrs. Park.
The last community
metric workshop of the
year was held on Thur-
sday, June 1, and the
subject was capacity.
The feeling of the group
was that at first glance
metric appeared to be
hard, but what was
needed was the practice.
Incidentally, those at-
tending discovered that if,
a person drinks three
bottles of a certain
brewed drink in a brown
bottle, they will have
consumed about a litre of
the stuff.
In house leagues,
Edmonton juniors- won
their division in floor
hockey. Toronto placed
second, Saskatchewan

present Saskatchewan
leads the leagues with 376
points; Edmonton last
year's champions, 'have
334 points and Toronto
has 325 points.
