meeting of Goderich
Township Council, 12
building permits were
issued. These permits
went to: Jack Gilbert for
a- s-torage building.. and.
one for a workshop;
Tudor Wain for a cattle
barn, Fred Vanderhaar
for a garage; Ray
Ducharme for a house
addition; Wallace
Bateman for a mobile
home; Ray Bush for a
swimming pool; John
Koetsier ._for a broiler
barn, Ed Wise fora silo;
Jack Mayhew for a hog
barn; Kalman Gyapjas
Goderich man dies
in London hospital
Norman Joseph Walter
of 208 Warren Street,
Goderich died in St.
Joseph's Hospital,
London on Saturday, May
27 at the age of 75.
He was born in Bruce
Township, Ontario on
March 14, 1903 to
Catherine (Schneider)
and Simon Walter.
On May 5, 1931 he
married Eleanor Sch-
wehr in Detroit,
Michigan. She survives.
He worked as a
foreman for the Ford
Motor Company in
Detroit. He and his wife
lived in Detroit until 1947
at which time they moved
to Ayton, Ontario. They
moved to Florida in 1955
where they lived for 14
years returning to stay in
Teeswater for three or
four years. They have
lived in Goderich for the
last three years.
The late Mr. Walter
was a member of St.
Peter's Roman Catholic
Church in Goderich.
Besides his wife, he is
survived by one son,
Gerald (Gerry) Walter of
RR9 Clinton; two sisters,
four brothers and seven
grandchildren.
Prayers were said at
Stiles Funeral Home on
Monday, May 29 at 8 p.m.
for the late Mr. Walter. A
funeral service was held
on Tuesday, May 30 at 11
a.m. in St. Peter's Roman
Catholic Church. The
Reverend Father A. F.
Loebach officiated.
Interment was in St.
Peter's Cemetery,
Colborne Township.
Pallbearers were
Gerald Schwehr, Donald
Walter, Jack Schwehr,
Paul Walter, Dennis
Zettler and Ronald
Walter.
John J. Hoggarth
buried at Goderich
John J. Hoggarth of 58
Hamilton Street,
.Goderich died in
University Hospital,
London on Sunday, May
28 at the ageof85.
He was born in
Goderich on February 27,,
1893 to James and Mary
Hoggarth. He had lived in
Goderich all his life and
was a mechanic with his,
own business.
On May 15, 1915 he
married Lizzie C. M.
McLean in Goderich. She
predeceased him on July
30, 1964.
The late Mr. Hoggarth
was a member of Knox
Presbyterian Church in
Goderich.
He is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. Doris
Barker of Farmington,
Michigan and Mrs. Jean
(George) Ross of
Goderich; one grandson,
John Ross of Goderich
and two great-
grandchildren, Tanya
and Nathan Ross of
Goderich.
A funeral service was
held at Stiles Funeral
Home on Wednesday,
May 31 at 11 a.m. The.
Reverend G. L. Royal
officiated.
Interment was in the
Maitland .Cemetery,
Goderich.
Pallbearers were Eric
Speiran, Albert Wolff,
Ken MacCus.pey, Horace
Crawford, Bob Sowerby
and Bob Jewell.
Former school teacher
buried at Kintail
Miss Anna C.
Mackenzie died in
Humber Memorial
Hospital in Weston on
Wednesday, May 24 at the
age of 81.
She was the oldest
daughter of the late Annie
(Chambers) and Mur-
doch C. Mackenzie of
Ashfield Township.
She taught elementary
school for some years in
both Ashfield and
Wawanosh Townships
before going to Toronto
where she taught until
her retirement in 1962.
She is survived by four
sisters, Mrs. J.B. Rhodes
of. Toronto, Miss
for a summer cottage and
J. Elder for a drive shed.
Mary Parke's request
for a building permit on
pt. lot 38, Maitland
Concession, was deferred
by council until an on-site
inspection can' -be made:
The township clerk was
instructed to send the
applicant a letter from
the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority
regarding her property.
Council decided to issue
a trailer camp licence
renewal for 1978 for
Lighthouse Cove.
A tile drain loan ap-
plication of $2,000 on lot
40, concession 8 from
William Brand was ap-
proved by council.
Vince Young was
Charlotte Mackenzie also
of Toronto, Mrs. Philip
Gour of Weston and Mrs.
Earl 'Howes of Ashfield
Township, as well as
several nieces and
nephews -and grandnieces
and grandnephews.
She was predeceased
by a sister, Isobel Mary
in 1928 and a brother
Hugh Chambers in 1968.
The , _' Reverend Hugh
Nugent conducted the
funeral service for the
late Miss Mackenzie on
Saturday, May 27 at the
Mackenzie Memorial
Parlor in Lucknow.
Interment was in
Kintail Cemetery.

the Secondary Plan.
Council is requesting
that an abandoned
freezer located on Zehr's
and Stedman's property
be removed.

theme, The meeting was
well attended.
Mrs. Roland Penney of
Dayton, Ohio is spending
a few days with Mr. and
Mrs. Alvin Betties.
While out fora drive on
Sunday and .• going
through Holmesville, I
see the people are out
again and enjoying Mr.
Les Jervis' sanctuary
feeding his . many
animals. What a joy the
young and old get from
Mr. Jervis' hobby.
Baby Nicole Harris,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Harris, was
baptised on Sunday, May
28 by Rev. R. Pick. After
the service, 25 guests
enjoyed a dinner at the
home of Dennis and
Donna Harris with guests
coming from Grand
Rapids, Seaforth, London
and Goderich.
Good to hear Mr. Jack
Mayhew wasn't injured
in the car accident he was
in.
Worship service at the
Holmesville United
Church last Sunday was
well attended. Before the
children went to their
classes, they gathered
and Rev. J. Oestreicher
offered a prayer and sang
Happy Birthday to Mrs.
Huller, a senior member
and regular attendant of
the Holmesville church.
