30. In memoriam
CRAWFORD - In loving
memory of a dear husband,
father, grandpa and great
grandpa who passed away
May 31, 1973.
The month of May again is
here,
To us the saddest of all the
year,
The blow was hard the shock
severe,
To part with one we loved so
dear,
We watched . you suffer,
heard you sigh, ..
All we could do was just
stand by,
We lived in hope, and prayed
in vain,
For God to make you well
again
But he decided we should
part,
We watched you die with a
broken heart,
No length of time could take
away,
Our thoughts of you from day
to day.
Lovingly remembered by
Sadie, Ken, Bob and Jean,
Marg and Del, Bill and
Donna, Jerry and Norma,
Audrey and Lloyd, Gordon
and Joanand all the gran-
dchildren .
ran-dchildren. 22
PENNINGTON' (WALSH) -
In memory of a dear
mother, Elizabeth, who died
May 29, 1969.
The depths of sorrow we
cannot tell
Of the loss of one we loved so
well.
And while' she sleeps a
peaceful sleep.
Her memory we shall always
keep.
Sons Ronald, Ross, Kenneth,
Leonard, and Douglas and
their families. -22x

Newspapers on micro -film
John Stafford, Deputy -reeve of-Howick who is
also chairman of the Huron County Library •
Board, reported Friday that two films of the
Huron District Assessment Rolls for the years
1842 to 1848 have been presented to the county
library by the University of Western Ontario
Library System.
This gift was received as thanks for the
library's co-operation in assisting with the '
micro -filming of the Clinton News -Record.
Warden Gerry Ginn said the News -Record
filming is the first step in an effort to update the
recorded history of Huron County: It is- to be
continued to present day, county council agreed
and a student is to be hired to complete the
collation of the material under the guidance of
Jerry Fremlin, a volunteer who has done this
work in the past.
The project is to be completed by September
30, 1978 and the cost is to be paid from the History
Project Budget.

Mrs. R. Brock gave the
motto which was two
lovely ^ poems, "What to
Plant in a Garden" and
"Dandelions" - very
appropriate for this time
of the year.
Mrs. R. Brock then
introduced the guest
speaker, Elaine Town-
shend of Clinton who
spoke on the organization
of "Alpha" in Which she
is actively engaged. It
covers the problems of,
physical barriers and
things done for the
handicapped.
Ms. Townshend told of
many things that the
government and
organizations are doing
to try and eliminate
various physical barriers
that handicapped persons
face which exclude them
from public par-
ticipation. Some
examples were steps into
buildings, public
telephones too high for
people in wheel chairs to
use, curbings on the
streets that wheel chairs
cannot surmount, etc.
Her talk was most in-
teresting and her ex-
planation of how she
overcomes her handicap
was a wonderful example
of perseverance. Mrs. R.
Buchanan thanked the
speaker and presented
her with a gift.
The Graduation
Banquet for Grade 8
students of Colborne
Central School, was
discussed and members
unanimously agreed to
cater to this on Tuesday,

be made at the June
Sunshine Sister banquet
meeting.
Mrs. Allan Stoll, the
delegate to the Women's
Institute Officer's Con-
ference held early in May
at Waterloo College, gave

thanked the members for
selecting her to be the
delegate.

with the members joining
in singing, The Grace and
The Queen, with Mrs.
Kaitting at the piano.
After this, a very
successful Plant Auction
was held with Mrs.
Dorothy Feagan as the
auctioneer.
During lunch several
prizes were given to
members. The grand-
mother with the most
grandchildren was Mrs.
McNichol, of Blyth. The
anniversary closest to
May 25 was won by Mrs.
G. Kaitting. The lady that
baked a pie that morning
was Mrs. McGowan of
Blyth and Mrs. Lawlor of
Auburn. The lucky cup or
saucer was held by Mrs.
Leatherland of Auburn,
and Molly Grant of Blyth.
The members and
guests then enjoyed a
social half hour together
with lunch served by the
committee.
