All were welcomed by Miss Bea McClenaghan, Home Economist, Clinton. Congratulations to Irene Martin Dungannon 1 for achieving County Honors on the completion of six Homemaking Units and Mrs. Barbara Snowden Dungannon 2 who got Advanced Honors for completing 18 Homemaking Units. Much credit is due the dedicated leaders of the clubs who give their time to take the training sessions and then plan the meetings and teach the girls the desired skills. Leaders of Dungannon clubs are- Dungannon 1 - Mrs. Jean Errington and Mrs. Marie Stewart; Dungannon 2 - Mrs. Doris Culbert and Dungannon 3 - Mrs. Alma Black and Miss Joyce Dougherty. The Fall Project is called, "Essential Edibles". SOCIAL NEWS Mrs. Donna Young joined a bus tour to Ottawa for the Tulip Festival last weekend. As well as seeing the flowers those on tour were taken around the city to see many points of interest including the homes of political and diplomatic dignitaries and also went across the river into Hull, Quebec. Miss Sharon Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Young, has com- pleted her computer course in London and is now working with Shaeffer Pen Company in Goderich and staying with her aunt, Mrs. Yvonne Chase. Ted and Ella Redmond received the Agricultural Serviee Diploma for their dedicated service to the local Agricultural Society over the past several years. This was presented at the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 23. The financial report told of 173 tickets sold out of 175 printed, which indicates a successful event. Plans were discussed for a Fun Night for members of the Society in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Len Biloy and family of Detroit, accompanied by some friends, are spending the weekend at their summer home here. Since Monday is Memorial Day holiday in the U S. they can enjoy a longer stay. Donald Johnston is in intensivecare in Wingham Hospital since being admitted during the latter part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moulton of Simcoe spent a few days with Bill's father, Frank Moulton recently. Frank's daughter, Mrs. Inez Howe of Tillsonburg visited on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Peterson of Lucknow brought Mr. and Mrs. Peter MacDonald and Ryan to Dungannon at the first of the week to spend a couple of days with Peter's grand- mother, Mrs. Lillian MacDonald, and Mr. Moulton. Dungannon soccer team played against the Goderich team on May 15, the result being Goderich 6, Dungannon 1. May 18 in a game with Clinton, the score was Clinton 3, Dungannon 0. Practices are held each Wednesday evening at Brookside School. Coach is Steve Park with assistance from parents of players when he is unable to attend practice. DUNGANNON UNITED CHURCH The Dungannon United Church congregation was pleased to welcome the Reverend Cecil Wittich of Dungannon doings Mary Bere correspondent 529-7915 Monday, May 29, for residents of Ashfield the Blyth charge who exchanged pulpits with the Reverend C.G. Westhaver this past Sunday for World Outreach Sunday. Huron - Perth Presbytery authorized an exchange of pulpits, coinciding with "Outreach '78" being held on Sunday at Grace United Church, St. Thomas, as a Conference Missions event. Rev. Wittich preached on the subject, "Good News For All". With reference to the liquor plebiscite held on New vet in Ripley clinic (Intended for last week) Mrs. Gordon Finlayson has returned home from a visit in Toronto with members of the family. Mrs. Ewan ' MacLean, Mrs. Reg. Godfrey of Ripley and Mrs. Oliver McCharles of Lochalsh attended a meeting in Wingham on Wednesday at the home of Mrs. I. Morrey where plans were made for the Hor- ticultural Show to be held in connection with the International Plowing Match. Dr. Russell Moncrief, a recent graduate of the Veterinary College in Guelph, has joined Dr. Donald Hodgins of Ripley to form the Ripley Veterinary Clinic. Recent visitors with Mx. and Mrs. Oliver Lochalsh Marion McCharles correspondent, 528-2822 McCharles and other relatives in the area was Mrs. Len Evans of Sarnia. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Martyn and Donald motored to Malton on Sunday where they met Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Carruthers who returned home from a trip to the British Isles. CHURCH NEWS Baptismal services were held at Ashfield Presbyterian Church on Sunday when Greg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim MacKenzie, was bap- tized. - Wednesday was tree planting day at the Lochalsh cemetery. SOCIAL NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Rod MacLennan of Detroit visited Mr. Frank MacLennan and Mr. Ken MacLennan in Goderich Hospital and Mrs. Frank MacLennan in Victoria Hospital in London. Mr. R. L. MacKenzie has been transferred to hospital in Hamilton from Wingham Hospital where he had been a patient for some time. Holiday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Oliver McCharles were . Mrs. Allan McCharles and family and Mrs. Harold I'Anson of Oakville and Mr. and Mrs. John McCharles of Petrolia. New York actor to Playhouse James Murphy, Artistic Director for the Huron Country Playhouse at Grand Bend announced recently that New York actor Rex Stallings has been signed for the production Parlor, Bedroom and Bath. Mr. Stallings, who appeared in the original Oh Calcutta production in London, portrays a timid husband who tries to live up to his wife's image of him as a "ladies' man". Mr. Stallings (a familiar face in Canada through his London Life TV ad) appeared at the Playhouse in 1975 in Barefoot in the Park. His most recent engagements were with the Brooklyn Academy of Music season where he appeared in the provocative production of Julius Caesar starring Richard Dreyfuss. Ann de Villiers returns to the Playhouse for a third season to play Stallings' wife. Parlor, Bedroom and Bath is a 1917 Broadway relic, co-authored by Charles Bell, a prominent Canadian lawyer from Hamilton. The show, after its initial decade of popularity both on the stage and on the silent screen, fell into ob- scurity. The nominating committee of the congregation has named a music committee as follows: Mrs. Emma Rivett, Mrs. Debbie Culbert, Mrs. Penny Hodges, Mrs. Tinie Logtenberg, Mrs. Mary .Bere, Jack Caesar, and Lloyd Hodges. This committee will .meet'on Thursday, June 1, at the church. Thanks a're due to the junior Sunday School class for the planting of flowers around the church on Saturday. The annual pastoral change church service and congregational picnic will be held next Sunday, June 4, at Camp Menesetung at 11 a.m. Everyone is to bring a picnic lunch, cutlery and lawn chairs. Dress casually for a time of fellowship and fun. The offering is to be donated to the camp. CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CHURCH The young people of the Dungannon Fellowship Church went over the top -- in their objective of $300 to go to Missions during the present year, by picking stones from a 50- acrefield of one of the members of the congregation. Con- sidering the heat of the past few days, this was a difficult and com- mendable job. The former pastor, Doug Zehr, home from his year at Eastern Mennonite College, Virginia, was present at the Sunday morning service. Pastor Lawrence continued with hi 'series of messages jfom the Acts of the Apostles, showing how the God of the impossible was able to perform great miracles through his believing disciples. The congregation has been asked to go, as a church group, to Wellesley this Friday evening to enjoy a social evening at the Com- munity Hall there. The purpose of it is to have a time of fellowship with another church group. The church group from Wellesley will be coming to Dungannon at a later date to continue this exchange program.
