Multi -use feature
A wooden deck works wonders
It's not often a single, hpme
feature can create exterior
elegance, add outdoor living
space, enhance a view, and
increase property value—all
for relatively little money and
virtually no maintenance.
But a wood deck will do it.
"A deck is also unique be-
cause it benefits all members
of the family and is suitable
for almost every family activ-
ity. It's a functional and fun
place to eat, nap, play, party,

job, a hobby or a suntan.
A deck of western wood
has the additional advantage
of long life and easy care,
provided it is properly in-
stalled and has good drain-
age. Competent do-it-
yourselfers can usually han-
dle the job.

half-inch tape is less bulky,

ways across the country in
the Spring. This year, you
might consider having one to
help rid you of some of the
clutter that's been building
up around the house all win-
ter. You'll be taking care of
Spring cleaning chores and
making money at the same
time, so be sure to plan care-
fully for this event.
Unused items
Here are some tips de-
signed to make your garage
sale simple and successful:
Rid your closets and
shelves of unused items.
Chances are that if you
haven't used something for a
year, you won't make much
use of it in the future either;
make that your rule of thumb
when deciding on clothes,
books, magazines, games,
'trrnkets 'ki'CChen" 'gadgets;
hardware and furniture to
offer in your garage sale.
You'll be surprised at.how
much more space (and less
dust!) you'll have around the
house afterwards.
Organize area
Organize the area for your
sale. Your town may require
a permit and fee for having a
garage sale, so, be sure to
check with town officials
ahead of time. Placement of
ads in local newspapers and
stores announcing your sale
is certain to boost atten-
dance: include the date, time,
and place of the sale and a
rain date. You might want to
enlist the aid of a few good
neighbors to help make
things run more smoothly.
To maximize your profits,

sparkle before placing them
on tables. Most washable
items, such as small appli-
ances and furniture, can be-
come clean and shiny by
spraying them with
