The inside -
If you think that's a strange
description, then take a look
at the fellow it fits. He's in-
side out because he wears his
skeleton where his skin
should be - on the outside.
Imagine what your friends
would think if you tried that!'
Or think of your brains next
to your throat. One good
cough might upset a year of
learning. But with the strange
fellow we're talking about;
nothing seems to change his
IQ - up or down.
How about hands that look
like wrenches? Not many
people would want to shake

ut wrench of the deep sea
hands with you, would they?
And it would be terribly hard
to eat an ice cream cone
without squeezing it in two.
But our strange friend needs
his wrenches to hunt and
defend himself.
You wouldn't want these
things? Well, you would if you
were Mr. or Mrs. Lobster.
You would probably think
each other very beautiful.
Mr. Lobster isn't like any of
his other neighbors in the
ocean. And he certainly isn't
like his land -locked friends
either. He's like ... well,
nothing much except other
lobsters.
You would think it quite
terrible to have noses and
ears on your legs. But not Mr.
Lobster. As he moves along
the ocean floor, he picks up
sounds and smells through
the tiny hairs on his eight thin
legs.
Mr. Lobster enjoys eating
but he's something of -
cannibal. If he's hungry
enough, he'll eat his lobster
friends or next-door neigh-
bour. Since he's a grouchy
fellow, he probably hasn't
Mr. and Mrs. Lobster
become friendly with even his
best friends.
We carry our teeth in our
mouth. But the lobster just
has, to be different. His
molars are in his stomach,
ready for any last-minute
work that needs to be done.
It's a 'chore for Mr. j,obster
to walk forward, vich he
does when everything is going
well. But let trouble come and
he shifts into reverse for a
quick getaway! Even though
he carries those frightening
claws around to hunt or
defend himself, the lobster
spends most of his time
hiding under a rock or among
weeds. Of course, he must
eat, so there are times when
he attacks anything that
moves near him.
Mr. Lobster is his own parts
department.. In summer he
backs out of his entire shell
and hides for a few weeks
until he grows a new one. If
danger strikes,' he can drop
off a giant claw, then grow a
new one.
The' lobster is often pic-
tured as red, but he isn't
usually red until he's cooked.
Most lobsters are greenish
black when they are alive.
Ask your parent's what they
like about the lobster and
they'll tell you• his delicious
taste. But when you really get
"to know this odd fellow, you'll
agree that he has many other
qualities that make him a
wonder of the worlcj.
