Mrs. Ida Baker of Goderich
died at Alexandra Marjne and
General Hospital onMonday,
May 8 at ..h,age oyV4.

on April 6, 1894 to Jorncs and
Mary (Hanlon) Dean. She

She was predeceased by
her husband William Baker.
She is survived by three
daughters, Mrs. William
(Zitu) Young of ()wen Sound,
and Catherine and Mary hoth
of Goderich six yvns,
William of Rinuwu.

Prayers were said at
McCallum Funeral Horde for
the late Mrs. Baker on
Tuesday evening, May 9. A
funeral mass was held on
Wednesday, May lOatlly.m.
at St. Peter's Church. The
Reverend A.F. Loebach of-
Interment was in St.e
Township.

The Westmjnster SecondarySchool --day tour of Huron County last week and entertained num,erous,school-and
public audiences in Exeter, Clinton and Goderich. The band and choir
entertained students at GDCI Thursday afternoon and gave a public

Gannington woman enjoys

ate our lunch in that room with Margaret
Bisset,who is in he gr
. Mrs. Edna Forbes, of Cannington, has
enjoyed going thi-ough Memories of
Goderich, And writes: "This book is a
treasure. I doubt. that there are many
people al* who have as many
memories as I have, in that book."
She recalls Dr. Strang,'who, taught
Latin with his eyes shut," and Dr. J. B.
Whitely, "whose voice was as good as
Mrs. Forbes is a daughter of the late
Peter James MacEwan, of Gnderioh,
and a granddaughter of Peter
&YocEvvan, who drilled the first salt well
at Saltford in 1866. She has been in
hospital in Toronto for some mQnths, but
is home now, using a walker to get
around.
"The book has plenty of mernories for
me.''she writes. ^l was born on the hill
just across the gully from 'Tiger'
Dunlop's tomb. We later moved down to
8aldbrd, where attended school under
Mr. George Wd d had as inspector
J. Elgin Tom, who was also my inspector
when 1 taught school.
