Only brave battle
weather condition
BY VALERIE JOHNSTON
Talking about golf and the
weather seems to go hand in
hand as one relies so heavily
on the other. Unfortunately
the weather, to date, has not
been exactly ideal for golfing,
although many dedicated
"golfers have been out on the
course braving the rain and
cold winds.
The first Men's Night of the
season was held on May 9.
First flight winner was Brian
Reeve, second flight, Bill
Mcisaac, Ward Hodgins,
Paul Corriveau, Dave Graf
and Bob Boak; and third
flight, Harry. Williams and
Greg Beacom.
The weather which brought
heavy rain during Men's
Night was more seasonable
for the first Ladies' Night on
May 11. A new handicap
system is being introduced to
the ladies for the 1978 season.
Winners for May 11 will be
announced on May 18; when
the ladies participating in
Ladies' Night have been
briefed on the new system.
On May 22, the first Mixed
Two Ball Party of the season
will be held. Tee off time for
nine holes of golf will be at 4
p.m. Following golf, there
will be a Pot Luck Supper.
People wishing to attend are
asked to sign in at the Pro
Shop. Attendance has always
been good for this event, and
we are looking forward to
another successful year.
Coming events for the
month of May include a
Fashion Show which will be
held on Ladies' Night, May
25. On the following Sunday,
there will be a Men's Field
Day. A brunch for this event
will be held at 2 p.m.
Darlene Crawford,
returning for her second year
as a Sunset employee, Wanda
Linner, who will be here on a
part-time basis, and myself
are looking forward to
meeting returning and
prospective members during
the 1978 season. As a final
note, people wishing to
become members are
reminded that the mem-
bership campaign is now in
full swing. People who join on
or before May. 21 can save 10
percent. So come on out to the
Sunset and join in on the fun.
