Tell t
Have you heard about Captain
Comet's new birthday club? The folks at
The Signal -Star think the Captain has a
starific idea this time. He's started a
new club that gives you a chance to win a
prize during your birthday month.
Here's how it works.
If you have a birthday coming up, send
your name and address, your age and
your birthdate to Captain Comet, Box
220, Industrial Park, Goderich, N7A 4136
... or drop the information off at the front
desk in the Signal -Star building.
Captain Comet is keeping a big book
just for birthdays and he has a special
system he goes by. He lists all the bir-
thdays in May,' for instance. The first
Robertson Public School teachers Marjorie Freeman 'and Dave Kemp interrupted the
Gong Show with a little, routine of their own,but the three judges, fellow school teachers,
gonged the duo before their act was complete. The students of Robertson staged the Gong
Show as part of education weekactivities last Thursday. (photo by Dave Sykes)

At the end of the month, the Captain
puts all the numbers ilia big hat...He has
one of his helpers pick a number out of a

How to
buy
a bike
Lots and iots of Kids are
buying ten -speed bicycles this
spring. The bicycle shops are
busy now with moms and
dads and boys and girls
looking for new and used
bicycles for The spring and
summer weather ahead.
The Ontario Cycling
Association has some tips for
people looking for new hikes.
The Association says your
bicycle should be like your
shoes ... it should fit per-
fectly.
e%fectly. You are goingtospend
hours riding it ,You should -be
as comfortable on your bike
as possible"
Here are a few hints.
The position you take on
your bicycle is most fill -
portant of all. Part of your
body weight must rest on
A your arms so that your :legs
are free to do the ` work of
pedalling. If your thigh
muscles are to work at all,
you must be leaning a little
towards your handlebars.
This is the reason for havint
dropped bars.
• The height of the saddle
(seat) is important, too:
When you are sitting on the
saddle, your leg- should he
almost, but not quite -straight,
when the heel is on the pedal
in its lowest position. You
should use low-heeled shoes
for this measurement. This
saddle height is critical, good
cyclists will tell you. •
Look for a • firm saddle.
When you have a saddle with
springs underneath, every
time you push down on the
pedal, you have to push those
saddle springs down too.
Get the saddle that suits
you. Some people need wide
Caddles. ' Some are more
omfortable on narrower
