In the first. Level semi- finals, Jim Kingsley made a fatal error very early in the game. BobDick pounced like a cat on a mouse to take advantage and win the series two games to one with one draw. Bob now moves on to the monumental task of playing Charlie MacDonald in the finals. A fact that Charlie will surely keep in mind is that Bob Dick had a winning position the last time he played Charlie. However, The winners in the junior division of the °Youth Bowling council included Stephen Love; Shawn Worsell, high single; Rob Little, high average; ,Doreeta Jackson, high average and Shelley McLean, high triple. Kim Varty and Mike Mcisaac, who were absent, won high single and high triple respectively. (photo by Dave Sykes) Figure skaters elect new executive. On April 17, the annual meeting of the Goderich Figure Skating Club was held in the arena with seven hoard members and fourteen guests. The new executive was set up and anew hoard members were added. The new executive includes: past president, Ellen Jeffrey; president, Catherine Boddy; vice-president, Alice Hyuck; secretary, June Horton and treasurer, Sharon Jeffrey. 4, . Board members are Eunice • Dechert, Sherri Hayter, Betty Harris, Carol Rean, Mary Cook, Jackie Harrison, Linda Hruden, Penny Crawford, Janice Fisher Shirley Woodard; telephone, Sue Traynor and Bursary, Eleanor Williams. We received contributions frorn the Goderich Lions Club and Local 1863 this year as reported by Mr. Boddy. - The committee chairmen gave their reports as to the year's activities. Bridge Club scores Frank Donnelly and Ted Plante teamed up to win the North-South division of •play with 89 points at the April 25 meeting of the Goderich Bridge Club. There were eight tables in play. Mary" Phillips and Sandy Turvill were second 'with 83 points and Louise Hetherington and Jean Papernick finished third with 81 points. Jean. Cook and' Verna Worthy took top honours in the East-West division with a point total of 871/2. Joanne Duckworth and A. Weerasooriya settled for second place with 86 points and Bill Duncan and Don MacEwan were third with 801/2 points. They will lend us. their services when needed. this game was being played on the last night of the season and was not completed in time for the play-offs and therefore was not counted. In the second Level finals, Steve Harding played a very strong game keeping the pressure on Darrell Clutton constantly to win the series two games to none. Congratulations are in order for Steve winning the second level championship in his first season with the club. Darrell can also consider this season a success by the fact that he made the second Leven 'WA. 111 1115 first year. Doug Brindley came up with two consecutive wins to defeat Jim Gower in the third level finals 2-0. Congratulations to Doug Brindley the new third Level champion and also to Jim Gower for having played his best season yet. The play-off standings are as follows: LEVELI SEMI-FINALS BOB DICK (.786) defeated Athletic field to be developed The April meeting of the Goderich township recreation council was held at the council room, Holmesville on Wednesday, April 19. Doug Yeo, Hazel McCreath, Art Bell, Marilyn Forbes, Bev Orr and Grant Stirling at- tended. The -main tt,pic of study' -at -- the meeting was evaluations of the responses to the swimming questionnaire which had been sent by mail to all township box holders. In answer, 37 children sent in notice of their interest in swimming lessons. Not all reports on pool prices, bus prices, etc were presented at the meeting as had been expected, so a .special swim committee was set-up to arrange a proposed swimming program with costs involved, to be presented for approval to the May 17 meeting. It is anticipated that a bus will be hired to make several pick-ups throughout the townsh'.. and take the childre r swim classes in August. On the swim com- mittee are Doug Yeo, Hazel McCreath and Alice Porter. It was moved by Art Bell and seconded by Bev Orr that the secretary keep an itemized record of all bills and receipts on a monthly basis. Grant Stirling reported the tpwnship council has received word of approval for the Wintario grant which was requested for the new township athletic field scheduled for development soon. Volunteers will be required to help clear and level the proposed sports field. Art Bell was appointed to arrange for three township dances at White Carnation during the year. Distribution of township crests is moving ahead smoothly. Marilyn Forbes and Grant Stirling appear to be the top salespeople.
