Cr ig carries Liberal flab
The nation's economy and
national unity will he the two
main issues in the upcoming
federal election according to
Graeme Craig, Walton. Craig
was chosen to represent the
Liberals in the Huron -Bruce
riding at the Huron -Bruce
Liberal Association
nomination convention and
annual meeting in Clinton on
April 19.
Craig defeated Grant
Chisholm, Lucknow, and
Jean Adams, Goderich. The
riding, now represented, by
Bob McKinley, P.C., was
Huron Mlridl''.px before
redistribution.
Craig,, 31, is a lifelong
resident of the riding and has
farmed since graduating
from Ridgetown College of
Agricultural Technology. A
technician with United
Breeders for 10 years, he is a
director of the Huron Cat-
tlemen's Association,
president of the Brussels
Agricultural Society and
assistant secretary treasurer
to the Huron Plowmen's
Association,
Statistics concerning the

"confusing" Craig told the
400 Liberals who attended the
convention. While there is 1
million unemployed, there
are 300,000 more working now
than one year ago. The labour
force hats increased three
percent in the past year in
Canada while in the same
period, the U.S. labour force
has increased only two
percent and the labour force'
force in Germany has
declined two percent.

by the Liberals two weeks ago

Bob Eaton, MPP (P.C.,
Middlesex), Parliamentary
assistant to the minister of
consumer and commercial
relations, today' released a
critique of recent activities
by the Liberal party's
agricultural critic, Jack
Riddell. In his statement, Mr.
Eaton said.
"There has been much in
the news recently concerning
Bill 70, the new Occupational
Health and •Safety Act. This
Act was designed.' to bring
.together a number of.existing
pieces "of legislation which
covered occupational health
and safety in some industries,
and the construction and
mining trades. It is a major -
piece of legislation and one of
the most progressive in North
America,
"The Bill was designed to
cover industry, construction,
mining and logging but was

.Miss Mary Louise (Mae)
Davies, formerly of
Goderich, died in Huronview,
Clinton on Thursday, April 20
at the age of 95.
She was born on January
31, 1883 in Clinton to Mary
Jane (Phillips) and George
Davies, She lived in Clinton
until "moving to Goderich in
1955.
She was a member of .the
North Street United Church in
Goderich.
She was predeceased by
two sisters, Margaret and
Elizabeth (Bessie) and one
brother, George Newton
Davies.
She is survived by. one
nephew, . George Norman
Marsh of Pinelas Park,
Florida; and three cousins,
Mrs. Roy (Alma) Pepper and
Mrs. Gladys Willis, both of
Clinton and Frank Crich. of
Seaforth.
A funeral service and
committal were held at Stiles
Funeral Home in Goderich on
Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m.
The Reverend Ralph King
officiated.
Interment was in the
Maitland Cemetery,
Goderich.
Young man buried
David Robert Nigh of
Stanley Township died at his
residence on Thursday,. April
20 at the age of 30.
He was born on November
12, 1947 in Niagara Falls,
Ontario to Mr. and Mrs.
Ambrose Nigh who survive.
He was employed by
Jellystone Park resort in
Stanley Township.
Besides his parents, he is
survived by his wife, the
former Colleen Flynn; three
children, Tammy, Tracy and
Trena ; one sister, Mrs, Diane
Stimson of Lahr, Germany;
and his grandmother, Mrs.
Jean Scanlon of Goderich.
A funeral service was held
at McCallum Funeral Home
at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April
22. The Reverend G. L. Royal
officiated.

79. Trustee David Teahen of
Stratford said that trustees
did not have time to study the

was only handed to them

activity days, 13 are allowed
by the ministry of education,
there' would be 189 in-
structional days while the
ministry calls for 185 days.
