Annual supper
at Benmiller
The congregational annual
`Supper and Sunday School
concert was held in Benmiller
United Church on S;aturday,
December 17, At -6:30 parents,
children and friends gathered
in the church basement for a
delicious supper with all the
Christmas goodie -s and
trimmings,
After the meal, the Sunday
School superintendent, Mr.
Russell Kernighan,
welcomed all and acting as
em-cee for the- concert an-
nounced the various numbers
of recitations, songs and
music. The concert ended
with a .Christmas dialogue.
Everything was greatly
enjoyed.
After the concert, Santa
appeared with his Ho Ho Ho
and distributed gifts to the
children. and wished all a very
Merry Christmas.
It was an enjoyable evening
of dinner, fellowship and
entertainment and a splendid
start for the Christmas
Season.
Sunday evening the choirs
of Benmiller United Church
joined with Victoria St.
United Church choirs in an
evening of music in Victoria
St. Church.
Rev. Alfred Fry was the
acting minister with Rev.
John Wood assisting the choir
and Mrs. Wood conducting
the choir's. Mrs. Joe Snider
was organist and Darlene
,Jewell assisted at the piano.
During the evening Rev.
Fry read passagr9 of the
Christmas story from the
Bible which was followed by
musical selections in keeping.
The Benmiller junior choir
sang "Here We Come A-
carolling-. and ''Do You Hear
what I Hear" and the Victoria
St. junior choir sang
"Snowflakes" and "We Three
Kings".
The mixed choirs sang
several Christmas carols of
various countries and the
McMillan Family with Mrs.
Harry Worscll at the piano
delighted the audience with
many numbers.
During the offering, a
violin number by Mrs. Jean
Smith and Mrs. Mabel Gray
with Mrs. Snyder at the organ
and Rev. John Wood at the '
piano was much enjoyed.
it was a splendid evening of
music and song.

A few months ago. a former
Benmiller girl, Jane Fisher
was married in a quiet,
family wedding at Three
Rivers, Quebec to Claude
Gregoire of Halifax.
Jane's many friends in
Benmiller and former neigh-
bours decided to remember a
girl, who, in her teens and
early twenties, took an active
'part in the activities of
Benmiller and 4-H work; So,
they had a money shower for
the new bride. They sent this
splendid shower gift of money
and best wishes to Jane who
was indeed pleased to.receive
them. She so appreciated the

Leslie Oscar William Flick
of London, passed away in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London on
Monday December 12 in his
95th year.
He was predeceased by his
wife, the former Catherine
Isabella Mathieson Flick.
He is survived by his
daughter Mrs. John W.
(Jean) Dewan: grand-
daughter, Mrs. George
(Janet) Ellwood and two
great granddaughters all of
London and several nieces
and nephews in Canada and
U.S.A,
Funeral service was
conducted by Rev. W. L.
Morden of Colborne St,
United Church at James A.
Harris Funeral Home.
interment was in Forest
Lawn Memorial Gardens,
London.
Mr. Flick was horn in
Colborne Township on
December 19, 1882 and far-
med for several years on
