CHURCH NEWS
A special Christmas ser-
e was held at the
ngannon Christian
ellowship Church on Sunday
ruing in which several
people participated. A choir
led by Laverne Martin ren-
dered two numbers,
"Redeemer Divine" and,
"Christewas Born to Save".
Noah Frey led in a pastoral
prayer.
Howard Martin read the
scripture lesson from "Luke
and gave a brief message on
the words "no room in the
inn", pointing out the
seriousness of our crowding
the Saviour out of our lives, at
this busy season and in the
days to come.
Cleason Martin continued
the Scripture reading and
explained the meaning of

praise as a largb part of the
Christmas message which
should be a vital part of the
Christian's life.
Peter Martin carried on the
reading from Luke bringing
the important lesson that,
just as the shepherds heard
the Heavenly messengers and
followed this announcement
with obedience, seeking out
the new-born Saviour of the
world, so we, too, should
follow up directions from the
Lord, or the blessings He has
for us are lost.
Carols were sung between
these talks and a final word
was given by Murray Martin
who read from Matthew and
emphasized the importance
of worship in our, lives, and,
as the wise men worshipped
in giving of gifts, so we, too,
can worship in the giving of
ourselves.
On Thursday evening the
M.Y.F. will meet to prepare
treats for the shut-ins, after
which the church group will
distribute them and sing
carols at various places in the
village. This will be followed
by a time of fellowship in the
Dungannon Christian-
Fellowship
hristianFellowship Church,
As Pastor and Mrs.
Lawrence will be going to
their home near Sudbury for
the Christmas week, the
former pastor, Doug Zehr will
be bringing the message next
Sunday. The Christian
Fellowship congregation is
looking forward to having
Doug in their midst again.
Candlelighters for the third
Sunday of Advent at
Dungannon United Church
were Jodie Kerr and John
Curran. ,The choir sang an
anthem under the direction of
organist Shelley Rivett. Rev.
C. G. Westhaver preached a
sermon on the topic, "Winds
that blow out the Christmas
Candle".
Everyone is welcome to
join in the Christmas Eve
service at Nile Church on

The Holmesville Public School students figured out how the Grinch almost stole Christ-
mas at the school concert recently when they acted out the popular Dr. Seuss skit. Here
the Grinch, played by Allan VanderEnde, disguises his dog, played by Ronnie Blake, as a
reindeer and prepares to go to Whoville and steal the Christmas presents, trees and
dinners. (staff -photo)
