Santa opens Thumbers' party
On Thursday night at
Victoria School, the laughter
and excited voices of 27 young
boys and girls could be heard.
The Goderich Green
Thumbers held their
Christmas party and also the
last meeting for the year 1977,
Santa Claus came to of-
ficially open the meeting. He
greeted everyone and asked
members what they would
like for Christmas. It was a
grand opening. With a jolly
"Ho Ho Ho" Santa said
farewell.
.°It was then time for some
creative arranging. Agnes
Bedard kindly donated vases
and material for the children
to "do their own thing". Each
child was given a container,
statis, ribbon and bits of
seasonal floral and materials.
Members have been selling
tickets on an afghan for the
last few months. The children
have really worked hard on
this project and are very
pleased with what was ac-
complished, The lucky
winner of the green and
yellow knitted afghan, was
Wendy Good, RR 5, Goderich.

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me one
delicious cookie. These junior students at Holmesville
Public School used real props when they sang the Muppet
version of the Twelve Days of Christmas at the school's
Christmas concert recently. At the end of the song the
students proved how delicious the cookies were by eating
them all. (staff -photo)

A very special commitment
has been made by two
members of this community.
Mr. and Mrs. .C. Gowers of
Goderich have joined Foster
Parents Plan of Canada.
They have "adopted" little
Esmeralda aged six years of
Tumaco, Colombia, Mr, and
Mrs. Gowers'------montftly
contribution of $19 brings help
not only,to the foster child but
to every member of the,
family. Esmeralda has six
older sisters. The total
monthly income of the famly
is $35.29.
The mon y that the Gowers
send provides the family with
a monthly cash grant or
material benefits, free
medical and dental care, free
prescriptions, the sustained
guidance and counselling of
social workers the benefits of
many special programs.
The objective is to provide
the family with tools to help
them become independent
and self-supporting.
The Signal -Star has been
informed that two names
were inadvertantly omitted
from the program of My Fair
Lady, a play perf rmed at
G.D.C.I. last week.Darrell
Kloeze and Earl Raeburn,
both French horn players
contributed equally to the pit
band says Jim Peters and
maybe even more so due to
travelling from the country.
Also, John Kloeze, who was
responsible for lighting was
missed on the program.
A friend of mine says he
never wants to see Las Vegas
again. His luck was so bad, he
lost his shirt in a coin laun-
dry.
