that caused it to shut down for

fish plugged up Unit 2.
According to Ken Elston,
station manager, the fish
were attracted to the warm
discharge of water which had
come through the recir-
culating tunnel from. the
water intake pipe at unit two.
The water is used for cooling
purposes in the reactor.

the water directed most of the
fish to unit two although
about two tons' of fish Jt'ere

the intake channel by unit

Too many fish were piled
up against the screen at unit
two and the water level
dropped, he said.
"When the water supply'
was lost, a vacuum built up in
the condenser and we had to
shut down unit 2 last Wed-

Late Thursday the unit was
started up again at„ 730

Since 1968, more than 1,000

Again this winter, short
courses will be offered on a
variety of topics of interest to
the agricultural community.
