Kingsbridge wins Huron -Perth senior champions

attended the variety program
and dance held in the
Holyrood Hall on Friday,
December 2,
With spring-like weather,
the snow disappeared this
past week and with the
St. Joseph's Kingsbridge Co-ordinator spoke to the
House League champions Family Life teachers and
returned home from Strut- parents present and an -

Last Friday, November 25
was a Professional 'Activity
Day and it started with Mass
celebrated by Reverend
Father EdDentinger. C.R., in
St. Joseph's Parish church,
Kingsbridge, which was well
attended by parents and
teachers.
Servers were Brother Carl
Voll and Harold Zettler.
Readers were Mrs. Betty
Frayne and Mrs. Clarice
Dalton. Prayers of the Faith-
ful were led by Mrs, Mary
O'Keefe, Mrs.. Nancy
Stapleton and Mrs. Stephanie
Miltenburg. The offering was
taken up by Mrs. Barb Eedy,
Mrs. Rose Frayne, Miss
Joanne Hamilton, Mrs. Tinie
VanDiepen and Mr,' David.
Zyluk. Mrs. Nancy Park was
the organist.
Following Mass, informal
parent -teacher ' interviews
were held in the school, in
some cases over a cup of
coffee. The system's aims
regarding the new science
curriculum was discussed
and objectives for the school,
in this area, were set.
In the afternoon the in-
termediate staff worked on
the Intermediate History and
Geography curriculum,
guidelines as 'set out by the
Ministry,
The primary -junior staff
attended a workshop with the
principal on "Education in
the Primary and Junior
Divisions" in Ontario which
provided philosophy and
rationale of these divisions.

the guest speaker Mr. Jack
Lane. Superintendent of
Finance for the Huron -Perth
Catholic system. He spoke
about the implications of
declining enrolments and
government restraints on
funding. The program proved
stimulating as some excellent
questions were asked by the
parents and teachers in at-
tendance, Following a break
for coffee and donuts,
Principal Dave Zyluk spoke
on the availability of the
school gym to groups or in-
dividuals on a no charge
basis, for games, meetings,
etc.
Mrs. Eedy's Grade 1 and 2
class invited Mr. Zyluk to
their classroom to speak to
them about the job of the
Principal. It was revealed
that he taught several classes
including: religion, math,
science. physical education,
and creative writing. His
work in the office was ex-
plained including the various
budget areas that he is
responsible for in the school.
The end came when Elmer
Foran and Maureen Stapleton
thought they would like to try
out the strap. Well, no one
wanted to be a victim so the
class chose Mr. Zyluk.
On Frida , December 2,
Kindergarten to Grade 4 lit
the second advent candle.
Plans are being made for
the school Christmas concert
to he held in the St. Joseph's
school gym at Kingsbridge on
Friday evening, December 16
beginning at 8:15 p,m.
TURKEY BINGO
St, Joseph's Parish Hall at
Kingsbridge was filled to
capacity on Saturday
evening, December 3 for the
annual Turkey Bingo. Win-
ners of the ten turkeys were:
Mrs. Winnie Dejardine, Mrs.
Heier from Kitchener, Joe
O,'Kaeefe, Mrs. Terry Dalton,
Carol Jackie
VanOsch, Dana Doherty,
Mrs. Raymond Haggitt,
Chester Finnigiin and
Raymond Dalton. Share the
Wealth winner was Karla
Hogan. Winners of stuffed
cuddly toys donated by the
Girl Guides with the proceeds
to help the Guiders were:
Frances VanRooy and Mrs.
Gordon Sproul. There were
also several consolation
winners. Winner of "Snoopy"
the door prize was Anthony
Peters-Gagel of Goderich. As
a consolation prize., a free
game was played on tickets
obtained from the door. The
winner the the cash prize was
Carl Courtney. Girl Guides
sold coffee and donuts during
the games..
The next bingo will be held
in St. Augustine on, Saturday
evening. December 10 at 8:30
p.m.

December 3. Theme of the
floats "A Cartoon Christmas"
was thoroughly enjoyed by
the little ones and parents
alike. As usual Santa Claus.

Sincere sympathy is ex-
tended to Mrs. Gordon
Finlayson and members of
her family on'the death of Mr.
Gordon Finlayson. His body
rested at the MacKenzie
Memorial Chapel in Lucknow
until Monday, -December 5.
Burial was in the Lochalsh
cemetery.
Mrs. Fred Vassella was
admitted to the University
Hospital, London on Tuesday,
November 29 with surgery
performed on the following
Thursday. Her many friends
wish her a speedy recovery.
Mrs. Jack Kinney, a patient
in the University Hospital,
London, is getting along very
well following surgery. Her
manyrt,friends will be glad to
know that she is to be
released from the hospital on
Tuesday, „pecenlber 6 and
will be staying with her friend

Santa Claus arrived in Goderich in grand style Saturday when he joined several of his
elves In the famous reindeer drawn sleigh at the rear of the annual Santa Claus parade,
The parade was witnessed by hundreds of Goderich residents, young and old alike, who
lined South Street, The Square and West Street to view the floats and bands in the parade.
Santa then made his way to the Park Theatre where he entertained children wanting to
