The club's informative guest was Jean McKee who spoke about house plants with the biggest problem being how'to water. BasiC soil requirements vary and Mrs. McKee generously shares her recipe with everyone. For a one gallon soil mixture, she says to put the following Come grow, ith us ingredients through a half inch sieve: one part of good black soil (preferably from a hardwood bush with leaf humus, never from around evergreens), one part of peat moss, one part of sharp sand (coarser thin Keach sand), one tablespoon of limestone (counters acid), two tablespons of Mag Amp (slow, release fertilizer), one tablespoon of 20 per cent phosphate and if desired some perlite (for aeration) and horticultural charcoal (counteracts sourness from overwatering). I know back in those days radio brought the games to most of us but it is hard to believe how many thousands still know this fine man. We were in- deed, pleasantly surprised. The sun rises here around seven o'clock. If I don't make a move at that time I won't want to get up until noon. I hate to waste .that exciting hour when the birds are whizzing excitedly back and forth - as if doing their earl morning exercises. After the big flurry they settle down to eating. By this time the sky is lighting up and all those clouds seem to check out and in less •than an hour have all disappeared. By eight a.m. the birds have settled down - so have the squirrels - you could go back to bed now except that people are starting to rouse and they are the noisiest beggars of thelot. So this is the time I spend riding Walt's three wheeler up one street and down the other. Hal and Velma Kavanagh from Port Albert, Ontario arrived the other nite and are busy. "settling in". There is always a lot to do here aftera place sits alone for six months. The shrubs and heavy grass and climbing weeds have grown like crazy and must be torn out. They still grow again but you get your exercises just tearing them out. Some of their "weeds" are just beautiful (but they would freeze, so I won't bring any home!) I have been finding new streets and short cuts to shopping centres. Yesterday. I found another section of Sarasota- a Mennonite set- tlement. It is an old section of town but a neighbour had found an excellent garage man there so I'm taking the car in on Friday for a check up. I have to check all this stalling that happens when I change gears or directions. The last tank of gas - regular - has just raised the devil with the motor. I've had a hair 'raising time just going to the store and back. Just slowing • to turn a corner it stalls - and I'm told I'll have to use Premium gas down here. So all at once there are a dozen things happening to the car. I will miss my Friday "paint in" at Venice Art League this week and that really hurts as this is a day I look forward to just painting up a storm! Have a nice week, Love, Martha. I have just received this man's bill but I have no intention of paying it without a fight, but where do I start? The procedure that may be Oaken by anyone wishing to dispute a legal account ren- dered, is to have it "taxed" by the local taxing officer. In London that gentleman is Robert Hawken, at the court house, or he can be contacted by phone at 679-7161. IMPACT strongly suggests to its readers that rather than engage a lawyer at random they should contact the Law Society of Upper Canada, and ask for their Lawyer Referral Service at 362-4741. This would put them in touch with a lawyer in their area, specializing in the particular field of law required. call BILL MELICK at your COLLISION REPAIR CENTRE SOUTH END BODY 524-9181 BAYFIELD RD. This was in answer to an advertisement I saw in a newspaper in the fall. So far I've received nothing for my money order which was cashed right away. Can IMPACT do anything about this? We have tried to locate the mysterious.John Maxwell but so far have got nowhere! The phone number that was listed for him is. IF BUSY 482-9796 A very lengthy and strongly worded letter was addressed to IMPACT from an irate reader who paid to insure a travel trip, which he and his family had to suddenly cancel unexpectedly. It seems that the Insurance company, (recommended by the travel agency) has refused to make payment on ttreir because of a printed clause in the contract covering lim itations. It would appear that this family have no claim against this insurance company, simply because they failed to read, THE EXCLUSIONS. Unfortunately this is by no means an isolated case, as a great many people, excited about the prospects of a holiday, fail to take the time to read the insurance coverage fully, and find out, not so much what the policy covers, as to what it does NOT! 1110EIREMI TIRO' f H Your Full line • CHRYSLER • PLYMOUTH • DODGE .* holiday Syere.m ( 524- 414 A j HURON RD. $311 GODERICH "5
