Unit One of the Knox United
Church Women held their
November meeting in the
Sunday school room of the
church with Mrs.Stanley Ball
in charge. She was assisted
by Mrs. Randy Machan.
The theme of the meeting
was Trees and a reading was
given on trees. The hymn,
For. the Beauty of the Earth
was sung followed by prayer
and all repeating the Lord's
prayer in unison. The
scripture and meditation was
on the theme and comparison
was made by comparing
man's life to that of a tree,
reading verses of the Bible
pertaining to this subject.
Another poem on trees was
read and the hymn, Jesus
Shall Reign Where'er the Sun,
was sung.
Mrs. John Durnin, the
leader took over the business
and the minutes were ac-
cepted as read by the
secretary Mrs. Lawrence
Plaetzer. Plans ' were made
for the December meeting
when there will be an ex-
change of gifts.
Mrs. Durnin closed with
prayer. Tarts and coffee were
served by Mrs. Ball and Mrs.
Machan.

of the needed financial
support for the initial five
year period of this project.
After this time Pueblito's
management will be passed
into Costa Rica hands. The
Auburn U.C.W. are spon-
soring a child at Pueblito.
Mrs. Kenneth McDougall
presented the new slate of
officers for 1978-1979 and Rev.
Earl St. Jean held the in-
stallation service.
The financial statement
was given by Mrs. Oliver
Anderson and accepted by the
members. Yearly reports
were given by the various
conveners and Unit leaders.
A White Gift donation was
given to the- Huron County
Children's Aid Society.
Two bales were forwarded
to London and UNICEF for
distribution to needy areas.
These consisted of 23 boxes of
used clothing, three quilts,
layette, children's clothing,
afghans and soap.
The new unit members
were drawn for 1978-79. Plans
'were: made for a Christmas
Pot Luck dinner at noon on
December 14. Members are
to invite a guest. Unit one is to
provide first course and Unit
two, the desserts.
The following is the new list
received a free-will offering.
and the roll call was an-
swered by a Bible verse from
the Book of Corinthians.
Plans were made to bold
the next meeting on Dec. 15 at
the home of Mrs. Thomas
Haggitt. It was announced
that a quilt will be put in this
week.
LIONS CLUB
The _music of Don Messer
filled the Auburn Community
Memorial Hall last Monday
evening when the Auburn and
District Lions Club put on the
movie of Don Messer and his
Jubilee tour of Canada. Don
Haines operated the
projector. It was too bad only
about 35 persons were
present•. Maybe when the next
film night comes along", there
will he a better attendance.

The ''Anglican Church
Women of St. Mark's Church
met last Wednesday at the
home of Mrs. Donald Cart-
wright.
Mrs. Cartwright presided
for the meeting which was
opened with the hymn, The
Lord is My Shepherd. Rev.
Dan Sagent accompanied on
the guitar.
The devotional was taken
from the Living Message and
Mrs. Cartwright read the
scripture lesson. Mrs. John
Daer led in prayers and the
meditation was taken by Mrs.
Robert Slater. Another
chapter in the book, How to be
a Christian Without Being
Religious, was taken by Mrs.
Slater assisted by Mrs.
Cartwright. A discussion
followed and the hymn, In the
Garden, was sung.
President Mrs. Robert
Slater opened the business
period and the minutes of the
October meeting were ac-
cepted as read by the
secretary Mrs. John DaeAr.
The treasurer Mrs. Thomas
Haggitt gave the financial
statement.
A discussion was held and
the bale is going to ge sent to
St. Monica House, Waterloo
and also ano;her one to

Martin Maurice Lawrence,
