decorated North Street United Church in Goderich on
October 29 at 4 p.m. for the wedding ceremony of Linda
Brennan and Michael Sudyk. •
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis
Brennan of Goderich and the groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Josef Sudyk also•of Goderich.
The Reverend Ralph King conducted the double, ring
ceremony.—i'he--organist was Robert Blackwell who
played St: Anthony Chorale at the processional and
Trumpet Tune for the recessional.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She
wore a gown of white silk polyester. The long floating
skirt fell from an empire waist. The long sleeves were
trimmed with fine lace. This lace alsoadorned the
neckline' and the'"'bo'ttoli of the skirt"'Mat"dliing' lace

trimmed the bride's hat.,She'carried a cascade bouquet
of twelve red roses and white'carnations.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Julie Sprung of Goderich:
She wore a full length French blue polyester gown with
empire waist, caped sleeves and square neckline. She
carried a bouquet of tinted blue carnations, white daisies
and blue baby's breath on a white lace background with
white silk ribbons. She wore tinted blue carnations in her
hair.
Bridesmaids were Miss Debbie Brennan of Goderich
and Miss Cathy Sudyk of Goderich. They were dressed
the same as the matron of honor.
Flowergirl was Miss Vicky Brennan. She wore a full
length white polyester gown trimmed with a French blue
sash. She carried a flower basket matching the bride's.
Groomsman was Leon Sprung of Goderich. Ushers
were John Garrick of Goderich and Stephen Brennan of
Goderich.
Carl Brennan of Goderich was ringbearer.
Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held
at the Sandpiper Inn.,Vanastra.
The bride's mother greeted guests in a full length
lemon colored dress of polyester knit with a yellow rose
corsage.
The groom's mother wore a full length orange and
green autumn flowered pattern dress of organza with a
yellow rose corsage.
For a wedding trip to Paradise Stream at Mt: Poccono,
Pennsylvania, the bride changed to a brown tweed sports
jacket with brown velour pants, matching velour vest
and beige silk blouse.
Mr. and Mrs. Sudyk will reside at 96 Elgin Avenue,
East in Goderich.
Prior to the weddding, showers were held for the bride
by Mrs. Cindy Brennan, sister-in-law of the bride at
Lighthouse Street in Goderich; Mrs. Julie Sprung sister
of the groom at Trafalgar Street in Goderich ; and Miss
Kathy Bell, friend of the bride in Bayfield.
Guests were present at the wedding from Goderich,
Clinton, London, Kitchener -Waterloo, Stratford, Port
Albert and Listowel.

The First Lutheran Church in Logan Township was
decorated with pink and blue pew flowers, potted
chrysanthemums and crocheted pink, blue and white
carnations on October 28 for the double ring wedding
ceremony of Cynthia Gail Diegel and Richard Barry
Baechler.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Aldeen Diegel and the
late Walter Diegel of RR5 Mitchell and the groom is the
only son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baechler of RR3
Auburn.
The Reverend David Beutel officiated at the
ceremony. Miss Heather Rose was soloist. She was ac-
companied by her mother, Mrs. Gordon Rose.
The bride was given in marriage by her only brother
Dennis. She wore a long white satin formal gown with a
train. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a lace and
pearl crown. She carried a bouquet of pink silk roses.
Matron of honor was the bride's sister, Mrs. Linda
Nieuwkyuk of Stratford. She wore a long gown of blue
sheer material with an apron of blue sheer polka dot
material. She carried a white basket of.silk flowers.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Linda Diegel of Stratford,
sister-in-law of the bride and Miss Cheryl Diegel, sister
of the bride. They were dressed in long gowns of pink
sheer material with aprons of pink sheer polka dot
material. They carried white baskets of silk flowers.
1 he flowergirl was Sheri Nieuwkyuk, niece of the
bride. She was dressed similar to the bridesmaids and
carried a small basket of silk flowers.
The groomsman was Jim Finlayson of_.R,-R2,Sgaforth.
Ushers were Dennis Diegel brother of the bride and Eric
Scott of RR3 Auburn, friend of the groom.
Joey Holmes of Blyth, nephew of the groom, was
ringbearer.
The groom wore a beige tuxedo with a pink silk rose
boutonniere. His attendants wore brown tuxedos with
blue and pink silk boutonnieres.
Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held
at the Brodhagen Community Cl~ntre where the bridal
party received the guests.
The bride's mother greeted guests in a long formal
gown of tut'equoise knit polyester with a corsage of yellow
silk roses and a white crocheted shawl.
The groom's mother chose a long gown of Tight blue
interlock polyester knit with an attached cape of printed
nylon and a corsage of white silk daisies with miniature
pink silk carnations. The groom's father wore a light
green suit with a white silk rose boutonniere.
For a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the bride changed
to a navy blue dress with a tri -tone yoke and pink cab-
bage silk rose corsage.
Prior to the wedding, the bride was feted at a shower
for the groom's relatives held by the groom's sisters,
Mrs. Donna Vanderburg and Mrs. Linda Renon and at
one for the bride's relatives held by Cheryl and. Susan
Diego! and Linda Nieuwkyuk, sisters of the bride and
Linda TJiegei, sister-in-law of the bride. •
An open reception was held last Friday evening at the
Blyth Community Centre with a good attendance..
Mr. and Mrs. Baechler will reside in Blyth
Mr. Austin was born on
Easter Sunday morning,
Apri1,17; 1892 to Peter Austin
and Annie (-McCann) Austin
of Kingsbridge. He was the
eldest- child of a family of
eight.
He attended school at S.S.
No. 2 Kingsbridge and was a
faithful member of St.
'Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church Kingsbridge. He
served as an altar boy and
was a member of the choir.
In 1918 he bought a farm,
the north half of Lot 1, Con-
cession 10 in Ashfield
Township where he farmed
until selling the place to his
son Vincent in 1972. He then
moved to Dungannon.
He was married on June 14,
1922 to Margaret (Etta)
McNamara. She passed away
on October 6, 1948.
His body rested at the
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel
in Lucknow from 8 p.m. on
Tuesday, November 15 until
Thursday morning November
17, thence to St. Joseph's
Roman Catholic Church at
Kingsbridge.
Reverend Father Ed
Dentinger, C.R. assisted by
the Reverend ' Father S.J.
McDonald of Simcoe
celebrated the requiem high
mass at 10:30 a.m.
Pallbearers were five
grandsons, Joe Austin, Kevin
Austin, Gary Courtney, Terry
.Austin and Jeffrey Austin and
a close friend and neighbour
Raymond Hogan.
_Flowerbearers were - his
grandson Eric Courtney and
niece Mrs. Shirley (Austin)
Grobbel of Detroit, Michigan..
Altar servers were five
grandsons, Ronald Austin,
Bob Austin, Michael Austin,
Floyd Courtney and Carl
Courtney and a great gran-
dson Shawn Durnin.
Readings were done by
Margaret Austin and Ralph
Austin, Calgary, Alberta,
grandchildren of the
deceased. The offering was
taken up by his children.
During the 0 ffertory and
at Communion, the organist
Miss Denise Dalton of
Kingsbridge played the Latin
hymns "O Santissima" and
"Panis Angelicus" sung by
Eugene Frayne; Antone
VanOsch and John VanRooy.
The entrance and parting
hymns, also palyed by Miss
Denise Dalton were "The
Lord Is My Shepherd" and "I
Am The Resurrection and the
Life".
Temporary entombment
was in the Dungannon
Mausoleum with burial at a
later date in St. Joseph's
Roman Catholic Cemetery at
-Kingsbridge.
Following the service,
dinner was served to over 100

and friends

Rivers of Seaforth and plans
were made to cater to the
Lions club. The Christmas
meeting was discussed and
Mrs. John Hallam will bring
the message.
The report of the Huron
Presbyterial meeting held
last month in Goderich was
given by Mrs. Eleanor
Bradnock. She also read an
inspiring message written by.
Rev. DeCourcy H. Rayner,
moderator of the 103rd
General Assembly of the
Presbyterian Church in
Canada.

and dedicated with prayer by..
